  1. I know exactly what you mean Code. My thoughts have been on a few that I served with during that dam war, and especially one of my very best friends that is laying in the cemetery at the church we both attended as kids about 1/2 mile from my home. I do visit his grave often. He was a very good young man taken way too soon from this life.
  2. He has more experience at a Power 5 University than Deion has. Deion doesn't even have experience at a G5 school.
  3. I would take Caddy over Deion as HC any day of the week.
  4. I would take Grimes as HC in a heartbeat over anybody else whose name that has popped up. But the question was/is, if YOU got the call to be the HC who would you choose to retain on your staff? I think that the OC and DC should have some input on that decision.
  5. Nope, Still Muschamp. He left the Plains for the opportunity to be a HC.
  6. OC~Jeff Grimes DC~Will Muschamp Then set down with them and discuss who they recommend for the rest of the staff, OL,DL,LB,DB,RB,ETC...and go from there.
  7. ET, I have seen his name just mentioned a couple of times, but I don't think that he is a "serious contender" for the position. But then again, who really knows, we have been surprised and shocked in the past before by a couple of choices just like this latest AD hire. Cohen came out of nowhere.
  8. Kelly is from Ozark, Al. Played for Coach Dye, and was the DC or DB coach for Fla.St. when they won the NC in 2013. Just saying, he's from the south. This is not a "plug" for him on my part.
  9. So just based on that alone, it automatically translates or transforms into 10,11, or 12 win seasons? I don't think so. We need a COACH, not a well known "Rock Star" that has only coached 2 years and at a school that is hardly above a division 2 school. He is just not proven at the P5 level, but yet, it's jump on "Prime Time" because he beat out Fla. St. for 1-One top rated recruit in the country? Yet some of you want to take a Junior high coach and give him the HC job at a major university? SMH.
  10. Nah, that was "Joey Freshwater"...LOL!
  11. Nope, can't google or Bing that cole. But like i stated, he may live to be a hundred. But with his condition, he may not last too long either. Who knows? All it takes is one tiny clot breaking loose.
  12. Yep, he's a regular ole "Yul Gibbons" in those old "Grape Nut" commercials. Remember what happened to Him?(if you're that old). And i know exactly what you mean. But it seems like that with the condition that Deion has that he is much likely to pass on sooner than later or than Harsin will. But still, Harsin could end up like the "Grape Nut" man. And then again Deion may live to be a hundred.
  13. cole, I never said that I didn't like him, or hated him, or such. And as for his medical condition, all one has to do is google, Bing, or whatever search engine you prefer to use to see exactly what his condition is/was, I did, and at 55 with the medical condition that he has, as I've stated before, I just don't think that it is in Auburn University's best interest at this time to hire him because of that being one of the top reasons. I respect yours and others opinion of him being hired. I have a very different opinion and reason for mine.
  14. Why? He's not a proven commodity in P5 football. As I've stated before, he's a coach at a school that's just a bit above a Division 2 school. What he's done at Jackson State is impressive and for the SWAC. Can he really do the same at Auburn and in the SEC? And a more important question is: Do you really think that the PTB actually really give him full autonomy over and with the football program? I don't think so because Deion is still all about Deion and his own personal interests just like he's been since his days at Fla. St. and his time in the pros. He still wants everything to still focus soley on him and what he's doing. He still wants ALL the attention. Don't let that smoke screen that he threw out there on 60 minutes the other night fool you. Maybe it's his alter-ego Leon Sandcastle still lingering in him somewhere. Now, that's just my opinion. Feel free to blast away. I'm fairly well thick-skinned....LOL! And he has some serious medical conditions that have to be considered also. How would that affect his coaching day in and day out? How much longe can he hold out at a P5 school and all it's demands? I truly feel for the man with the condition that he has and is suffering through. But that also is something that has to be seriously considered also.
  15. I think that you're living in a "Fantasy World" if either of you think that Auburn would even pay close to that kind of dough for Deion! I seriously doubt that Auburn would pay him what they are paying Harsin now.
  16. I understand. Green and some other numnut (as Golf would say), took a chance on Harsin and so, here we are today.
  17. If I'm not mistaken, Kirby didn't come at the time because he wanted to coach bammer through the bowl season, and Auburn wanted him to come when they offered him the job. He said no, and Auburn moved on.
  18. And Tater, He is 55 years old and has some serious medical conditions. Just how long would he be able to continue as the HC of a P5 program with all the effort that has to be put forth at this level? I'm old and I know that "older folks" just don't heal as quick and in the same manner as say someone that is 35,40,or 45, etc. IMHO we need someone who can and will be around for the "long haul" and get the job done that we all expect and know can be accomplished on The Plains.
  19. Tater, just asking a simple question; "Then why didn't the hogs hire him?" If he interviewed lights out as the AD implied, then what was the reason? Why did the hogs go with a mere OL coach? Had to be something there that tipped the scales against Deion. Was it lack of experience at a P5 school as a OC or DC or what? As for my hang ups as you imply, I just don't flat out trust Deion to get us to the level that we should be at this time. Now, that is only my opinion, and belief, just like you have yours. I think that there are far better options out there for The University to consider. Maybe I'm of the same mindset as the Arky AD; he's a good interviewer, but will he be the HC that will get the job done on and off the field at this level? Apparently the Arky AD didn't think so at the time.
  20. Just stupid huh. You mean Ozark country stupid? Yeah, got to be a whole lot better answer than that Bro.
  21. Why didn't Arkansas hire him then? Right. He coaches at a school barley above a Div.2. Not even a G5. He signs 1, I mean 1 5star recruit that he beat Fla.St. out for, talked him into signing with a HBCU school and folks think that he is the answer to all recruiting woes. Yep, he's gonna go head to head with Napolean and bowl cut and they are going to be gift wrapped automatically...LOL! Again, if he is so great, and intreviewed so very very well, then WHY DIDN"T ARKANSAS HIRE HIM?
  22. Plainsmen=9 Rebels, Black Bears, Landsharks, Rebellious Bearsharks?=35
