Clap back with class. So refreshing having a new staff who gets it. And the players buying in. They all know what went down, the lack of discipline, lack of finishing , lack of effort, showing up late things that went on. They know that was trash and want to improve.

Did you even hear or read the whole exchange? Big Cat wasn't asked about AU. Went out of his way to dis AU. There is a reason he is no longer at AU. That exchange should tell you everything you need to know why he isn't at AU. He was a "cancer" last year. A huge problem in the locker room. Was never disciplined. His actions were encouraged by a former defensive coach. Tried to tell people for 2 years how bad it was getting and got. I hope one day the stories come out and people will see what Gus was really like. You won't see crap like this from this new staff's team. Everything you do matters now. Even the little things. Accountability. To say Harsin, Mason and the rest of the new staff were floored to see what they got would be an understatement when they first arrived. Another little nugget on Big Cat, he wanted to go to UT but when UT did there homework on him they passed. Let that sink in.

I just don't get all of the grinding of teeth over recruiting right now. Any sensible person should see what is going on here. What went on and why AU is lagging behind. If this thing is still in the tanks October / November I'll be shocked.

Word for some folks who would know this is, now. It's done. Crazy crazy stuff. Working on if it's going to be the 4 team pod or two divisions now.

The poor recruiting rankings is a multiple problem question. Starts with COVID and not being able to go hit the road and see projects and coaching over the southeast in person. Then you have to rebuild the relationships that Gus and his staff didn't keep or burned over the past few years. Then you have to call and get these kids, who many haven't talked from someone at AU in years to come visits. Then you have to start from scratch and showing your vision in person to these kids. So this is going to be a building up process for a while. Over the next week we should have some 4* kids commit. And from there more.

Gus hired a firm to come in and look for bugs and hidden camera's around the complex and practice field before the 2019 Iron Bowl. He was convinced that bama had it bugged and was watching him. Stuff like this was happening all the time. Wasn't that teams could just watch film of the games and stop him. They were spying on him.

I think I’ve shared my Steele frustrations with you but all in all his time here was as good as any DC I can remember. Gus pissed away several championship defenses.
