  1. At this point, Gus needs to throw the kitchen sink into the game plan. Miller is a powerful back but more of a fullback type of back who chugs down the field with power but a lack of break away speed. Play Asa Martin starting next week and quit worrying about a redshirt. The same goes for Joiner. What would shake things up would be to go to a 2 tight end formation with 3 running backs in the backfield. Cox, Asa Martin, Miller and Joiner subbing for Miller. I know this says run, but such a formation allows us to have a true power running game. Rotate Miller and Cox as running back and fullback. Do not run out of the I formation, but line up with 3 backs almost like a wishbone option type of game. As bad as OM defense is, we could run them into oblivion. This would confound OM in the worst possible way. Change at times back to the HUNH formation we run. We need creativity from here on in to try to salvage the season as best as possible. This could work or blow up as well. We could have short slant patterns, bubble screens, and other quick routes for 7-15 yards where JS does not have to stand in the pocket any longer than necessary. This would be a huge wrinkle and one maybe a bit off of the charts. If JS starts having trouble, pull him and let some of the other QBs have a go at it. I say JS needs to sit for a few series to see what is going on and converse with the OC to help get a better perspective of what is going on. This is a radical departure from what we have been doing all season and would eat up OMs defense imho. Stat, Corche Jay, is this doable or a pipe dream? I am tired and dealing with a bad infection in my left knee and am feeling a bit out or sorts tonight!
  2. If LSU's defense continues to dominate, look for Aranda to get a HC job for 2019. That would be great for other SEC teams. I agree that he is an excellent DC and having him out of the SEC would be good no doubt! I know he is making 2.5 million, but if a team comes along needing a young innovating coach to the tune of $4 million, he goes. I think if Boobie can stay healthy, we have our 1000 yard RB. It will take more time to get past this game and we still have a lot of FB to go. We will be tested stoutly from bammer, UGA, MSU and possibly TAMU. If things go south for us and we wind up 4-4 in the SEC and get spanked some, do we bite the bullet $$$$$$$$$$$ and bring in a new innovative coach? Not bailing out on Gus yet and want him to guide us to a 10-2 or 9-3 season that is possible, but will be hard to go beyond this. Who knows though.
  3. I am so glad that you mentioned the lack of quality refereeing in this game. It was horrendous at times of which made me, and many, many tiger fans to throw our hands in the air in shear frustration. That last drive for LSU was a textbook case of inept and just down right pi$$ poor referring that needs to be addressed by the powers that be in the SEC that monitors refereeing for quality control. There must be rules set in place in the last 2 minutes of any SEC ball game where controversy penalty calls should be reviewed by a referee crew in Birmingham or wherever SEC ground zero is located that can carefully examine a call and overturn it if the evidence is compelling enough to do so. I would bet the farm if we have had this yesterday on that last LSU drive, the calls would have been reversed, and Auburn wins 21-19. Maybe I am wrong, or maybe I am dead on right with this one. I am not crying over spilt milk, but am crying over a 55 gallon drum of fresh milk blatantly splashed all over JHS football field by the hands of woeful refs.
  4. what is your take on the game tomorrow? I feel good about our chances and feel that we will be ready.
  5. You are dead on right! Ellitor tells it like it is and does not sugar coat anything. Lot of respect of Ellitor!
  6. This is one game that we will win and will come into the game with a point to prove left over from last year's game. I think we will see an extremely focused team with a mission. I think we will give LSU's offense fits all day long, and our offense will come through and will score the points we need to win this game.
  7. I thought that Pickens & Bo were likely going to be bumped up to a 5 star rating. I think we will load up on 4 star recruits and a 3 star here and there to finish out this class. A top 10 finish will likely happen and this is fine by me!
  8. That score could have easily could have been 77 to 9 if we could have executed better. I do think Cord is going to develop into a nice QB and will only be a matter of time before he becomes the 2nd team QB. If we can get Gatewood healed up, then we will have a lot more options at the QB position. Does anyone know if there is a time frame to get Gatewood back? Will he be ready for the LSU game?
  9. Thanks my friend! I need to quit looking at that stuff. I do not want to lose anyone who has committed to us.
  10. Thanks Coach, you make things come together very well for novice arm-chair punters like the Doc. I hope in 2 weeks you will be saying how well we did in a big win over LSU. I think the level of competition that we played and LSU did is night and day. I see Miami going 7-5 at best. UW would likely easily take down Miami and LSU as far as that goes. I am not that big on LSU and think we will expose them pretty good in 2 weeks. Folks seem to forget that Miami won the 2nd half 14-6 for what it is worth or not. We have to take it 1 game at a time and be ready for each opponent with our A game. I am curious to see if we will beat down teams this year like we did last season. My gut feeling is that we will have some beat downs this year as well. We need to beat down the Mississippi teams in a big way this year. It definitely will not hurt with recruiting being that we are going into Mississippi for some great recruits and need to keep them in our camp! Winning breeds winning 110% of the time!
  11. I saw on 247 sports that Handy is a 50/50 between us and Ole Miss. Geeze, why would any quality player want to play on that defense. They are pitiful and will get s lot of points scored on them all season. OM is a step down from Auburn as is MSU. I do feel that he will stay with us though. Garner is one of the best DL coach in the country and likely the SEC as well.! When OM plays a tough SEC team, they will be exposed for the weak team they really are. The same goes for LSU. We will expose LSU in 2 weeks and will shut down their offense early and often. Our defense will prove to be too strong for nearly all SEC teams. Just a few rants tonight from the Doc!
  12. I agree. I think FSU is in for a long season and one that will have some recruits seriously thinking about going elsewhere.
  13. after FSU's debacle in that game, I would think we are looking better and better! FSU is in for rough season. I would not be surprised to see a 6-6 type season.
  14. This should make it easier for him to choose Auburn. None of the Mississippi schools are on par with Auburn's engineering programs.
  15. good riddance! now we have another slot for a 4 or 5 star ball player!
  16. I would be happy to get Putnam with Clark parting ways with us.
  17. Do you think he is a solid commitment or is wavering on his word?
  18. I see you are from Anniston. My older brother lives there. A nice area indeed!
  19. Maybe after we put a beat down on MSU & ole siss, he will commit!
  20. I think that if Washington was in the SEC, you would likely see a team with a record in the neighborhood of 7-5 to 9-3 at best. Most SEC teams would likely have the same, if not better chance of equaling Washington's record if they played each team UW played. I think we will win this game and will win it convincingly.
  21. Great get 110% Welcome to the best university in the Universe and I know you will be a lock down DB and a part of something special.
  22. This definitely takes the sting out of losing Booth. Nice young man who will excel in our defensive back field in the not so distant future. We are tearing it up with DBs in this class.
  23. I love his attitude and think it will carry over into him becoming a special player for us. I am as bad as the next guy getting caught up in the star rating system. Sometimes you just know a recruit is worth more than some of the rating sites have him listed as. I think he has a great future on CRG's defensive line.
