  1. And we can't wait. And let's face it, we're going down this path is because of the older generations', like yours, intense obsession with guns over coming up with plans and solutions to support mental health and to eliminate unnecessary semi-automatics and handguns that made that little girl faceless. You call us a herd of sheep, we call it that we're not putting with it anymore.
  2. 100 percent. If NRA came out and said that they're worried about the increase of mass shootings and made collaborations with the government and law enforcement on figuring out solutions going forward, that'd be something that we would be thrilled to see. That they care. Yeah, the more I think of it, I agree with you. A ban on military-grade handguns and semi-automatics is more likely. I thought the article @arein0brought up in another thread made a lot of sense to me, which is why we won't entertain any of these suggestions penned by Frist.
  3. You hit the nail on the head on this. You brought up a point I haven't considered -- the longer this goes on, the more likely guns will be done away with a younger generation being politicians some day. I'm 30, but I've seen a huge uptick in my age and younger age that we won't be putting up with this kind of acceptance of such behavior in this society. If we're not reaching a compromise anytime soon, then they'll have to accept a complete ban on guns someday. I believe this will happen.
  4. It’s still one too many mass shootings no matter what numbers say. And numbers will increase and increase. That’s the most realistic part about this. Don’t sensationalize what’s going on with our country over our refusal to do something with guns.
  5. 199th mass shooting in 124 days. Reading the survivor's words about finding a girl with no face is heartbreaking. There are graphic pictures of mangled bodies with guts spilling over on Twitter if you want to look. This is the reality of America. We're perfectly fine with this kind of russian roulette of carnage that may happen from Los Angeles to neighboring state you live in to a local grocery store you frequent.
  6. 174 mass shootings in 119 days in this year. Guns matter more than people’s lives.
  7. This is incredibly depressing and deflating. What’s even worse is that we’ll continue to see more stories like these and we’ll find ourselves brushing it off as we’ve grown to accept that we prize guns over safety and lives of children.
  8. My dream is that everyone has access to food, shelter, healthcare, money and resources. As long as their basic needs (not wants) are taken care of, then it's up to the individual to decide what outcome they'd like to achieve. We'll always have people who are driven to work professionally, we'll always have people who prefer to do things differently, and we'll always have people who share no interest in work. That's the way it is in any society all over the world. Everyone deserves an opportunity to make their own outcome when their needs are met. But when we take away critical components needed to build a successful life for an individual, we get what @icanthearyouis saying in how resources and wealth are hoarded for capitalistic monopoly. How can anyone live in that kind of society? That's where equity is financially and morally bankrupt.
  9. Who do you think they could be, if you know?
  10. That makes sense, but we’re now ushering in an era where common decency and respect are now a thing of past if it means being in power. What’s the mechanism to defend against this kind of corruption? There is none, and frankly I do not see any true solution that would include collaboration by both parties. What now? Are we okay with a brazen display of stuff like this and say “oh well that’s the way it goes these days,”?
  11. This is a prime example on why lifetime appointments are rubbish. Anyone can be bought and sold for a Supreme Court vote. Ridiculous.
  12. Would you still be singing the same tune about gun rights if someone with an AR-15 kills your children or grandchildren? A genuine question.
  13. ? Guns are the common denominator in these cases. That’s a fact. And it’s a fact that shootings are now the leading cause for deaths of children. What narrative is that? I was talking about the narrative as being fixated on the shooter being transgender as opposed to yet another school shooting. That’s all. It’s that simple. Don’t get it twisted.
  14. That’s how narratives are built. Direct people to certain dog whistles to avoid the main problem.
  15. Gun shootings are the current leading cause for deaths of kids. Until we value lives of children over guns, this will be the norm. Just a game of deathly lottery where we all hope and pray that our kids and grandkids don’t happen to be the next. Except thoughts and prayers won’t work.
  16. As always, buck fama, but this year especially deserves an exponential buck fama for what they did this year with Miller and how Oats responded. This was truly cathartic on many levels.
  17. The regional is BRUTAL. But to open things we get to play in Birmingham, which is fantastic. If we can squeak by Iowa, we'll get Houston that may be missing one of their top starters. We really can get to S16 but that's a big IF we can shoot better and defend against Iowa's high-octane offense.
  18. The bolded part is EXACTLY what was bugging me too. We literally had to sit out Sharife Cooper while the investigation was ongoing. We had to tell Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy to wait while the investigation went on. The fact that the AD Byrne said that they didn't have all the facts when the news blew up about Miller being there at the crime scene blows my mind. Was there literally no entity who said "hey, maybe you should sit him out and let the investigation sort it out?" UA Athletics, SEC, and the NCAA? If you guys had sit Miller out and he was able to return after the investigation being cleared, it would look a LOT better for UA. And then you see news like the NCAA punishing Miami FL because two players had a dinner with a donor, you're like oh, NCAA is still alive.
  19. If this study is true, then -16 in FTA would make sense. Auburn's experiencing more than triple of that amount. Even 3x of the calls would equal 48 free throws. Auburn's getting rocked 3.5x of the normal rate. Coincidence? May be, but this is something we won't likely see again considering how aggressive we can be in the paint sometimes.
  20. This is mindblowing. It really feels like we've gotten really unlucky with some games, especially how close these games were but this is just glaring. +48 in fouls and -57 in free throws in just these 6 games? While I agree that we shouldn't blow double-digit leads, you can't help but feel shafted especially how some foul calls can shift momentum. I'm hoping (and honestly assuming) that this loss helps our resume a ton. Just need to win Tennessee game and we're a lock for the tournament, IMO.
  21. What blows my mind is that there was no precaution to the whole thing. If someone was implicated or seen in a crime scene, the most proper thing to do is to sit someone out as the investigation goes on. And at least make a simple statement saying that we're aware of the allegations and we're cooperating with the law enforcement. If it was announced that he was cleared, then it would look better for optics that he did his part and he now can play again. Auburn had this happen when NCAA told Cam Newton to sit out and then he got cleared. And then with Purifoy and Wiley. And again with Cooper. They really tried sweeping it under the rug and act as if nothing happened. This blew up because the testimony revealed everything. While Oats has a huge part of this, we should look at the AD Byrne and the administration. And at same time I was surprised that the SEC and the NCAA did not say anything. Players from all schools have been sat down / suspended for MUCH less. This wasn't a simple shoplifting case like UCLA's men basketball back then where they had to suspend three players indefinitely. Instead of being shocked, this is pretty sad.
  22. I read that someone suspects she's positioning herself to be the top VP choice, which makes sense to me -- if you're fighting to stay relevant, and you happen to be chosen as the VP, that's a way to stay in the spotlight.
