  1. On the Hoover vs Pinson Valley game, they said Pickens would take all of his official visits, but none of those would go to Auburn. Is that not strange? I mean him taking all the other visits isn't, but is it not strange that a player who has been such a long time commit wouldn't take an official visit to the team he is committed?
  2. Awesome Awesome Awesome. This makes the sting of losing Booth not hurt as bad. Sure I still want to see us sign a 5* DB in my lifetime, but for this recruiting cycle, getting this young man's commitment sure helps the hurt of missing out on Booth.
  3. If Malik Miller becomes RB1 and a stud for us, I'll agree with you on this one, but I feel it's a prime reason Miller hasn't seen a significant snap in the many years he has been here. I'm not at all saying the system failed, but I will say 2015 was not a "very very good running game." Peyton Barber gave it all he had, but barely eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark in an offense designed to create 1,000 yard rushers. If he was "very very good" that season, he would of 1300+ yards. I just give that number because it's roughly what KJ did last season, and I would definitely call last season a very very good running game. But yeah... 2015. I'll await my Santa Claus and Easter Bunny. The system didn't fail in 2015, it's the ONLY reason we had a 1000 yard running back that season, but under no circumstances was 2015 a very good running game. I couldn't agree more. However it gets tiring hearing excuses for why we can't sign more truly elite talents, especially at RB. Previously it was Gus being on the hot seat. Now it's we run our RB1 into the ground. We need to find a way to counteract that stuff.
  4. This is good news but it doesn't hurt the sting of losing out on Booth... AT ALL. But getting QB depth is always nice. What's it like getting a 5* CB? I couldn't tell you. I don't think we have ever done it in my lifetime. Either way, welcome aboard. WDE
  5. Any chance this young man can play tackle? I see in the article about him that he has played tackle in his high school days, but he is projected as "all guard" at the next level, but is there anyway we COULD use him at tackle? Seems he has the size and ability to be an OT in college...
  6. Thanks E. You are on the ball when it comes to this stuff. You are an amazing asset to this website. And I'm glad you get treated better here than the other one (that I know) you post on (rant.) I saw how someone was bashing you in the recruiting thread on the other site and I couldn't believe it. Just please know how much we appreciate you. I'm no insider by a long shot, but reading everything I can about this young man, it looks as if we are solidly in the lead for his commitment. Us offering him a full ride apparently means a lot to him.
  7. Either way, I've never been a fan of left handed QBs, but I really wanna get this young man. He has the height, and a strong arm. Let's get this guy signed up
  8. What kind of passers is he? Also, is he like Stidham and Nix where he is listed as a DT QB but is much more so a pocket passer? Or is he more of a run first DT QB? He will unquestionably have a strong arm, but how good will his accuracy be?
  9. So anyone know the story on Oladele? Also will him not coming open a spot for Sandberg? Or do we just lose his spot?
  10. @aujeff11 and @GwillMac6 Yall sure we are talking about the same person? http://recruiting.blog.ajc.com/2014/08/06/trent-thompson-nations-no-1-prospect-to-announce-at-7-p-m-tuesday/ On a different note, while trying to find out about what Jeff and GWill were talking about, I see Thompson was the first ever nation's #1 recruit to go undrafted. https://herosports.com/nfl-draft/trenton-thompson-signs-browns-recruiting-undrafted-ahah As for our class, I really hope we hang on to Pickens, and get Haselwood and Cain.
  11. This is how I remember it also. I remember thinking we had a real chance to sign him. I really don't remember anything negative coming out about Trent and his visits to AU. Well... Here is really hoping it is more like Browns recruitment.
  12. I REALLY hope we sign him. I doubt we do. His recruitment reminds me a lot of Trent Thompson. 5* Georgia kid who really seemed to like Auburn but wound up signing with UGA. But who knows, it could be a Derrick Brown recruitment... I just don't see that happening... I sure hope it turns out like Browns recruitment...
  13. It has nothing to do with developing QBs, it's about the fact that had he been the head coach at the time, he would of most likely changed his position. And it's not like Gatewood was just riding the pine behind a QB who didn't even get a JUCO scholarship offer. He was splitting time with another D1 QB. Either way, I'm in the camp hoping we keep Gatewood at QB and that we sign this Sandberg guy. I almost said kid, but he isn't anything near a kid anymore
  14. It's difficult to understand how you can say that about Gatewood. Some of the kids in his class aren't even on campus yet, but people say he doesn't have it in him to be A SEC QB... This time last year, he was preparing for his SR year in high school... I just dont get it... E, do you think there is a chance this happens? I don't... I just don't... I'm in the camp that hopes Gatewood becomes Newton 2.0. But had Cam signed here out of high school, we wouldnt have won in 2010, nor would we have a 3rd Heisman... He would of had people calling for him to be a TE also... You know... The position Gus NEVER uses... Because he is a superior athlete... Had Cam signed with us out of high school, he would of been swapped to TE and never heard from again. I can't believe people are really calling for that to happen to Gatewood... SMH...
  15. Holy crap a Bubbles sighting. You may have just become my favorite poster. I LOVE ME SOME TPBs
  16. Anyone else have issues watching this video? For me it says that the NFL blocked it being played on this site? Yessir he did. And only set our all time record for receptions by 20+ catches. You can. Hold down the button that is for "likes" until it pops up with a big group of different likes, laughs, facepalms and more.
  17. We never sign kids from Auburn. I just don't get it. He was. However that was the feel good story that I can't believe people still believe. Truth is Grimes was offered an off the field position at Auburn because we knew Hand was coming, and he chose to leave and get an on the field position elsewhere. There is 0% chance he leaves on his own. He was pushed out because Gus knew only offering him an off the field position would push him out. Exactly. It was a great PR move. Wasn't the truth as to why he left, but it sure "felt" good.
  18. Bo goes to school like 20 minutes from where I live. I'm going to go watch him play a time or two this coming season.
  19. Pretty sure that's why we went after and hired Woodsen so we could own the state of Mississippi. Here's to hoping it pays off.
  20. It has been for me too, but with the early signing period, today has not been as exciting. Maybe later when Chase and Ross sign
  21. Me too. But after I already quoted you, it's been said he is a composite 4* Read the thread man. He is in here. There are a couple posts about him.
  22. We have played true freshmen on the DL lately. Davidson started as a true freshman, Brown played a lot as a true freshman, big cat Bryant played a bit as a true freshman. Cowart played sparingly as a true freshman... It's not unheard of for a freshman to come in and contribute immediately on the DL lately.
  23. It's a great one, but I think I still like the one KJ Britt did more. But this is a huge pick up.
  24. And if he keeps growing and winds up the pass catching TE we haven't had since Lutz, bring it. We really should make this kid a priority for the class. He should of been since day 1. I understand there are only a few spots left, but get this kid signed!
  25. Odd recruitment or not, I've wanted this kid since his thread was first added. Why would we need depth at RB anyway? It's not llke we lost the SEC Championship because we had no one ready to play. Oh wait... You guys can say what you want about Malik Miller. He is not and never will be the answer. He is just too slow. Period. This kid could give us quality depth, and provide a very nice 1-2 punch with Martain.
