It was a strategic blunder by Harsin to go for 2 at that point which is particularly concerning because he had extra time to make it after the last TD. Oh and if you don't make the 2 pt conversion at the end, you still have an onside kick opportunity assuming there's time on the clock.

No disrespect intended. It’s just been mentioned many times what effect winning this game or that game will have on recruiting. We probably will win at least 8 games this year which is enough to demonstrate competency. AU has won them all several times and it never really resulted in elite recruiting results. It’s more about projecting a vision for players success in college and the pros. Players want to see a plan mapped out for them. The only way to tell if this staff is any good at that will be by the caliber of player we begin the sign.

So exactly how many games do we need to win before we can start recruiting well? This thought process actually makes no sense. If this were the case then no team could ever pull themselves out of mediocrity enough to change the culture. Recruiters recruit. Regardless. I like Harsin and his approach but if he and his staff can’t recruit ahead of success on the field, his arse won’t be around long. Period. It’s not chicken and egg…you have to convince some chickens to come on faith. Sell the vision. Collect the eggs after.

Which is outdated thinking. The NCAA has nothing unless the Feds have a reason to get involved. All the payola can be above board now. The choice is up to AU how big of a player we want to be.

There’s no reason we had to play catch up but I predicted we would have to. I’m not sure why the AU power structure tends to take a wait and see attitude about things like this while other schools seize the new way of doing things quickly. I think the three major sports at AU have about as strong a HC lineup as we’ve had since the 80’s and I would like to see them have the same tools that UAT and UGA have.

I remember an older guy from Louisiana who seemed to know a lot about HS players down there calling into a national radio show back in the '10 timeframe specifically bemoaning TR as the one that got away. Thought he was the most dynamic player he'd ever seen in LA. Oh well, glad he's a star for us now!

Sadly, they had players out there making plays we can’t make. Our new staff coupled with the fan base passion can do great things. Need players. That’s all.
