  1. With KD leaving, personally, I would have preferred Aden to go away rather than Tre. Fact is, Tre may not have been lights-out this past season, but Holloway was an total disaster, a liability on the floor beginning to end. I hope Tre decides to stay and CBP pushed Aden out. Just my opinion.
  2. Okay, so the son has watched and learned at the knees of CBP. But he has zero head coaching experience. And simply watching a charismatic head coach like CBP is NOT the same as being the same sort of charismatic persona. So does his years at the knees of CBP translate into the same sort of recruiting? Can he recruit like CBP? Can he motivate like CBP? I'm not saying he is incompetent. I'm saying he needs some real life experience coaching as a HC and demonstrating that he can actually recruit and motivate players, coach players, call games, build (or continue) a program, etc. Stephen Pearl MAY be a good coach, but we have NO CLUE whether he is head coach material, When CBP retires, I want a real search for a coach with a track record of success. Not some "offspring of my loins" who has no proven ability.
  3. This is just my opinion -- We thought Holloway was the answer because WOW 5 STAR! But he turned out to be a liability on the floor. Could not hit shots, could not make great assists, too tiny to guard. Could he maybe improve with a year of maturity? I'm skeptical. Is Pettiford ** The Answer** ? I'm trying to be in the "I hope so, show me" category. Maybe he can come in and make some shots as a 2. He certainly has the high school highlights. I wanna hope he will be a contributor. Since the tandem of Harper and Brown, CBP has not found a guard pair that can scare any team from outside. CBP has work to do. IMO, and this is just MY OPINION, that means move KD and Holloway out through the portal. Move out bench-sitters like Patterson, Sobera, Muschalek, Clanton and Trapp. Pull in from the portal some guards who have actually played in games and contributed and seem to have potential. Personally, I wanna keep Tre because he really improved this season and has potential as a solid contributor next season. Okay, just my opinion.
  4. Getting ready to watch Tennessee take on Purdue, featuring two of the best players of the year. Both of these teams came in with a reputation of crapping out of the tourney early, but both have advanced true to their seeding. Hoping for a good game.
  5. My second alma mater, Illinois (where I did graduate studies), was just clobbered by UConn. Sigh. Now I'm in the "do not give any F's" for this tourney.
  6. How long has it been since we have pretty much zero info from scrimmages and practices. Yes, I know our insiders are doing the best to keep us informed. But fact is, I feel like I have never had LESS info regarding Spring Practice for years. Am I missing something?
  7. As per the OP, the "advantage" of CHF remains to be seen. UGA, Bama, Ole Miss, UT, Texas, Sooners, etc -- they ALL hit the portal successfully. Will CHF and his team building thru portal and HS recruiting pay off in the next few years? Fact is, we don't know. He's pulled in some highly regarded WRs. The new coaching staff have a LOT of work to do. I'm still in my "wait and see" mode. And HOPING for the best, of course. WDE!
  8. Well, we are talking about FUTURE when CBP decides it is time to retire. That could be a year or could be 5 years. Personally, I'm not eager to sign a contract assuring that his son will be appointed the new head coach (other than interim) when CBP retires. The track record of nepotism in college BB is not sterling gold.
  9. Thing is, we don't know what the BB landscape might be like when CBP retires. The entire NCAA world will be changing in the next few years. There may me some very successful coaches on the market. His kid -- well, coach-juniors have not fared so well in the past. Personally, I want a coach who has actually taken his team to the Final Four or higher. Only that woukd be a step up from CBP.
  10. Ivermectin excplains all the coaching opportunities he has had since being fired from Auburn.
  11. Trump owns the GOP. And for the upcoming election, there will be no realistic conservative alternative, because most every GOP person sucks Trumpian sausage.
  12. Trump is Jesus reincarnated! I must have the Trump Bible!
  13. I loved his energy and defensive play. I loathed his turnovers and crazoid antics. His productivity has declined while his aggressiveness increased this year. Best wishes to KD, wherever he ends up. He plays hard and I hope he enjoys success in his final year of eligibility - wherever that may be.
  14. In other words, the university is telling us
  15. Has anyone mentioned that we need a QB, some receivers, some OL and DL and DBs to step up? Has anyone jumped to proclaim Geriner or Brown our savior? Has anyone yet asserted that CHF will castrate our new OC, or conversely that our new OC might have a few ideas of his own? Has anyone noticed that there might maybe be a Spring game, maybe, but it will not be televised? Sorry, but Spring practice is just a bunch of guys practicing. Let me know when Fall Camp concludes and we kickoff the new season with some guys who are starters who might maybe win a few games for our Tigers. Okay, this was intended as humor. I'm still just disappointed in the paltry amount of info we have coming out of Spring practice.
  16. IMO, coming to this late, is that there is a big difference between the fouling of CBM and other Auburn players. In most cases, Auburn guys foul during intense defensive or offensive play. They are in the mix. Rebounding, guarding, etc. Baker-Mazara tends to throw elbows and wild pushes and violent jawing outside play. And the refs just will not tolerate that, even if it is retaliatory. Personally, CBM was my favorite player this year. But his violent streak really got in the way of his great offensive and defensive play.
  17. Only one of my personal interest teams is still alive (Illinois), but I don't know for how long. I might check in next weekend. Maybe I'll be interested in the Final Four if it looks fun.
  18. Reality is, it doesn't matter if UA is "better" than Nike or Adidas. What matters is recruiting, and reality is kids are all about Nike. Especially in BB when there are summer games sponsored by Nike. Go to a summer session sponsored by Nike or one sponsored by UnderArmor? Um ...... which choice will a id make? CBP has overcome a Lot recruiting obstacles for our Tigers, but he has also struck out on guys he really wanted. Was apparel the ONLY issue? Maybe not. But it was certainly ONE issue in recruiting.
  19. Everyone was complaining that SEC teams were underrated. Well, I think that idea died very spectacularly the past couple of days. Of the 8 SEC teams in the tourney, only Tennessee and Bama survived the first game. As for the Auburn game -- 1. The ejection of Baker-Mazara really crippled Auburn. He has been a potent contributor offensively and defensively -- but he has definitely been very aggressive and volatile all season. It caught up with him this time.. 2. Freshman Aden Holloway at point guard is a total disaster. He just dribbles around, launches 3s that invariably miss, and turns the ball over a lot. I know CBP wants to keep him, thus giving him playing time, but in reality, he should have been our 3rd string PG all season. And today illustrates why. 3. Auburn ended up playing at Yale's slow methodical tempo, which handed Yale control of the game. CBP mission to run deep in the NCAA died against a mediocre (at best) team. It's another year of frustration that everyone had higher expectations for. Yep, again! 🤥
  20. Barkley and the BB masses of experts seemed to think the SEC was talented. deep. and exceptionally strong. Selection committee was more reserved, and a lot of, well everyone including Barkley and experts, proclaimed that SEC teams were underappreciated and seeded poorly. Reality check. When your conference is populated with mediocre teams, compiling stats playing against them makes every team and every player look better than they really are. This became apparent in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Which teams in the tourney are legit? Everyone seems to think UConn, Houston, Purdue, maybe UNC. I expect only UConn to make it to the Final Four.
  21. Miss St, So Carolina, and UKY out from game 1. Let's not Auburn be like them!
  22. Before the first NCAA game, Barkley commented that the SEC was under-appreciate. The SEC is much better than the Selection Committee seeded them Then we watch Miss State go down, South Carolina go down, Kentucky go down -- not to powerhouses, but to teams we'd expect our SEC teams to beat. Except,, Barkley was wrong. The SEC teams were OVER-rated and lost their opening game. Which is why I have been saying CBP need to have our guys realy to play from the first tipoff. And our guys need to be focused.
  23. I'm just hoping Auburn players are focused this weekend. Not taking opponents lightly. Auburn has not gone far in the NCAA for awhile now. CBP says this team is on a mission. Well, certainly HE is. Let's hope the players are too.
  24. Anyone who thinks Yale is just some skinny white dudes throwing up 3s is delusional. Yale actually has a size advantage over Auburn, inside and out. I'm hoping CBP has the team focused, not taking Yale for granted. In tournament time, it is one game at a time or you are out. WDE!
