  1. I'm glad to see some north Alabama kids getting strong looks from Auburn in the upcoming years. But I'm even more glad to see Auburn among the top choices for players that CBP really wants to pull in. Even now, this deep in CBP's tenure at Auburn, I am excited by his ability to attract exceptional off-the-radar talent. Yeah, sure, sometimes they don't pan out. Zep, Greene, Aden, Travore, etc. But personally, I like his philosophy of recruiting players who have something to prove. He's attracted some great talent to the Plains -- which we haven't seen in decades!
  2. Returning to the original topic (I know, crazy huh), Calipari is pulling in some good recruits at Arkansas. I'm not sure how his style of team building, coaching and play will translate at Arky, but they are going to have more raw talent next season. And fact is, at one time, Calipari really could coach up players and make a good run. If he re-dedicates himself to real coaching, he might be able to revive the Razorbacks once again. Under Nolan Richardson, Arkansas was a team to be feared. That's kind of a big IF, though. The game has changed and he had trouble adapting at Kentucky, which is why he is gone. Still, an improved Arkansas, with Texas and Oklahoma incoming, and Bama and Tennessee as very solid programs -- the SEC ain't gettin' easier.
  3. Interesting that Michigan is also bringing in that 7' center from Yale -- Wolf. He will probably have some fun razzing Tre. And Tre will be competing for playing time at PG with Justin Pippen, 6' 4" son of Scottie Pippen. Good luck to Tre. Personally, I was hoping he'd stay at Auburn. He improved tremendously from first year to second, and I expected him to continue his maturation into a seasoned, excellent PG for Auburn.
  4. If he plays at Bama the way he played at Auburn, he will be riding the bench a lot. Unlike CBP, Nate will not play a guy much who can't make outside shots or succeed at the basket. Actually, I'm surprised Nate even wanted him.
  5. A dad buys a lie detector robot which slaps people when they lie. He decides to test it at dinner. “Son, where were you today?” The son says, “At school, dad.” Robot slaps the son. “Okay, I watched a DVD at my friend’s house!” “What DVD?” “Kung Fu Panda.” Robot slaps the son again. “Okay, it was an adult film!” Dad yells, “What? When I was your age I didn’t know what an adult film was!” Robot slaps the dad. Mom laughs, “He’s certainly your son!” Robot slaps the mom.
  6. A man goes to a pet shop and buys a talking parrot. He takes the parrot home and tries to teach the parrot how to say a few things, but instead, the parrot just swears at him. After a few hours of this, the man finally gets fed up and throws the parrot into the freezer to teach it a lesson. He hears the parrot squawking and kicking for a few minutes, but then all goes quiet. The man opens the freezer up, the parrot calmly steps out onto the man’s outstretched arm and says, “I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I’ll endeavor to correct my behavior.” The man is astounded. As he’s about to ask the parrot what’s caused this sudden change in attitude, the parrot continues, “May I ask what the turkey did?”
  7. I've seen the same joke many times over the years featuring Bush, Trump, Clinton, and Obama as well as Biden. Thing is ------ When the butt of the joke is a democrat, Democrats don't think it is funny and Republicans don't think it is a joke. When the butt of the joke is a Republican, Republicans don't think it is funny and Democrats don't think it is a joke. For that reason, I'll resist the opportunity to politicize this thread by posting hundreds of Trump jokes. I hope others will help keep this thread non-political, because I was really enjoying it! Just my 2 cents ....
  8. This has become an unfortunate pattern for our Equestrian team. Performing well during the season, then under-performing at nationals. I'm sure the team and coaches are disappointed -- again. Still, Auburn remains an excellent equestrian program. Here's to future championships!
  9. I'm sure the available NIL had something to do with his decision, but moreso I think the style of NBA play currently features all 5 guys on the floor who can shot from the outside as well as get in the paint. Broome will be shooting 500 3s per day during the off-season. He's not big enough to play solely inside. He needs to diversify his game. And I suspect CBP told him he would have the opportunity to play more 4 next season. He's still got work to do.
  10. With PG Pegues and SF Jahki Howard coming in from the portal to join Pettiford, I guess we are now just waiting to see what Broome decides to do. He needs to decide soon if we want to get another big.
  11. Ya know what, I'm with Nick Saban. Win with class and lose with class. As for all the other BS about NIL and portal and such ........ for any team I want to be associated with AND THAT IS AUBURN .. win with class and lose with class. In my days, decades ago, several coaches ago, this was Auburn. Win with class. Lose with class.
  12. Two rape accusations for this guy during DeBoer's time as HC at UDub.
  13. There have been some remarkably good QBs transfer out after Spring over the past few years. Question is, can CHF snag one this year -- or next. Because our coaches seem to think Thorne is going to be good and White is going to be good. These guys in the portal are looking for a team where they can start day one. And may accept less NIL to make sure that is a possibility. Nobody wants to come in as a designated backup.
  14. The trillions of dollars lost revenue is explained by the Republican fantasy of "trickle down" economics -- in other words, feed the rich, take from the poor and middle class. As a result of this Reaganomics type of strategy, we now have an oligarchy of the uber-rich individuals and corporations, and a shrinking, demoralized middle class. Republicans = spend and go deeper in debt = increasing national debt. Democrats = spend and tax to assure spending is offset by revenue, thus much lower increase to the national debt. It is no secret that Republicans feed the 1% and the corporations, thus constantly adding to the national debt. Anyone who tries to explain it away is just trying to put one over on our country. The most recent episode of "feed the oligarchs" was during the Trump administration. The national debt ballooned, but of course the country was better off because the 1% and the corporations got a huge windfall.
  15. Well, maybe he has enjoyed a growth spurt. But in his own words, “I’m a short guard who can get to the rim and finish above the rim,” Pettiford told On3. Um, Aden figured the same. So did Wendell. That was not SEC play. I'm not negging on Pettiford. I have high hopes that he can become an offensive force. Aden certainly wasn't that. TD was more stable as a PG than Aden. Maybe Holloway would have developed over the next 2-3 years, but he was certainly not the 5 star outside threat or solid PG that we needed last year. Good luck to him going forward. I'm hoping Tahaad can step in and be the PG/CG we need for next season.
  16. The online sources I've seen list Pettiford at 5'10" or 5'11". Unless he has experienced a growth spurt, he is another CBP mini-PG. I'm not predicting calamity. Pettiford is the #2 PG nationally. Just sayin ..... yet another CBP mini guard.
  17. Best of luck to Aden. He was just in over his head at Auburn. Did Tahaad Pettiford disappear or something? I thought he was due to arrive on campus next month. Another of CBP's miniPGs.
  18. Cal just walked away. If he had been fired or if another team had lured him away, UK would have enjoyed a $33 Million buyout. But Cal just walked away. Not fired. No buyout. He just walked away. UK saves a bunch of money, but who do they hire to replace Cal? And the pigs get a coach who *might* be able to lure top 5 recruits, although maybe with limited ability to actually build a functional team. Arkansas has had some great teams in the past. Not Cal-type teams, but this is a different age. Can Cal give the pigs a boost to regain the respectability of Nolan Richardson and other Arkansas greats? I think #1 on Kentucky's list is Scott Drew -- low buyout, younger guy who has had success. But would he leave Baylor for the pressure-cooker that is UK? I dunno. IMO, UK now has a real problem on their hands. Who wants to step into this Blue Nation with the expectation to win, win, win championships.?
  19. UConn showed out with play from both inside and outside. Unfortunately for Purdue, Edey had no help from anyone else on the team. Or was it that UConn decided to take away everyone else? Whatever, it wasn't like Clingen out-dueled Edey. It was just a better all-around team that beat Purdue.
  20. The solar eclipse is a government conspiracy. It will not happen because there is no sun.
  21. Calipari's buyout at Kentucky was $33 Million. A week ago, he and the AD had a press interview at which they both said he would be back for next season at UK. And now he just walks away. Arkansas has a strong history in basketball, but the pressure will be less on Calipari there.
  22. I hate to say it, but if (by some miracle) Auburn ended up playing UCONN or Purdue, it would have been an embarrassing slaughter. I was glad to see UConn knock out Bama. I'm kinda glad it was not us trying to play the Huskies.
  23. From my vantage point, Purdue didn't win that game, NC State LOST it. NCS had lots and lots of open shots, they just went cold and could not make a basket to save their lives in the second half. Purdue might have still won the game, but if NCS had been dropping their open shots, it would have been a nail-biter.
  24. Mods, you can move this if you want. Personally, I'm just tired of Auburn mediocrity. There is millions of dollars flooding into university Athletics. Auburn is in the top 10 of revenue producing schools. And yet -- Auburn swimming and diving (a program that was once a national powerhouse) - nuthin Auburn track & field -- nuthin Auburn soccer -- nuthin Auburn softball -- nuthin Auburn baseball -- nuthin Auburn women's basketball -- nuthin Auburn volleyball - nuthin The only sports in which Auburn has actually showed a pulse is Men's Basketball and Equestrian (which is NOT an NCAA sport). If I'm an Auburn Athletics donator, what am I getting for my dollars. If I'm an Auburn NIL contributor, where does my dollar go? I'm not a negga nellie, I'm an Auburn supporter and I contribute to Auburn every year. And I love my Auburn athletes in every sport! I'm just not seeing where Auburn athletics millions are going. Surely not to swimming and diving (my sport) or track & field, not to women's sports. I'm sorry, IMO, the idea of a gazillion dollars flowing into the university from NCAA and NIL SHOULD be to fund all sports make ALL sports competitive. Instead. we've got buckets of money going to CHF and cups of money going to CBF, ans teaspoons of money going to a;; other sports. Sorry, but IMO ....... FU. This is not what I contribute my money to the Athletic Dept for. NO MORE!
  25. I was a true fan of "Captain Crunch" back in the day. I don't follow pro ball, but I know he was an imposing LB at Miami. But as with so many men who succeed in college and then in the NFL, CTE catches up with them in later life. The connection between CTE and Alzheimer's is well documented. Mike gave his all for Auburn and then Miami. He deserves our greatest respect. I was wowed by him as a LB at Auburn and he has always been one of my favorite Auburn players ever. RIP Captain Crunch!
