  1. This is in large part to the DC firing correct?
  2. Usually if they do it's to follow the coach they like. Can't follow Caddy back to his house though...
  3. Change your picture back so I stop getting confused.
  4. I get people are closed lipped about details. But is it known Zac and Caddy were having the same issue? Or have some posters just thrown that out there cause Zak took the new job right on the heels of Caddy announcement? The fact Houston picked him right up would make me assume he was not part of it, or his part was so minor another school wouldn't care about it.
  5. Queue the "Etheridge wasn't a good coach at all" posts.
  6. Don't be silly ^Exactly And 2021 was last 1000 yard rusher. 2022 season Tank had 970 and Hunter had near 700. 2023 season Hunter had over 900 with Hunter and Thorne having a surprisingly high amount of the total attempts. And again, with a ... let's say less than amazing Oline Words have meanings, and using the correct ones are important. If Caddy wasn't your favorite coach. Say that. If you think there are better options out there. Say that But there are a lot of people now throwing out posts about him being a 'bad' coach. He wasn't, so when it's said it's gonna get called out.
  7. Well, besides the forums here for the past week or so, it's a surprise. Actually pretty classy of Freeze if details into this don't leak. He's gotta know that no matter the reason for it or it even being a decision over his head... some people are just gonna give him hell cause Caddy was so well liked. Lotta dudes would know that was gonna happen and leak info on the why to cut down on their own negative press. Nice that HF hasn't. Hope whatever it is that happened with Caddy gets fixed, wishing him the best.
  8. There are def people posting about how it was a genius move to not involve himself in game planning. And that if you think a HC should involve himself in game planning then you obviously don't know football. There's another one seemingly claiming that anyone who thinks Freeze should have been involved with the team at all instead of just recruiting must be a closeted bama fan. Though I believe those few have discovered the ignore feature and are actively creating an echo chamber for themselves, so maybe not an issue anymore That's a bit different than what is upsetting to me. The firings I did not like, you explained the DC firing, and the OC firing... well if he's gonna be the OC now then it's whatever too. The thing I still can't stand is coming out and saying he wasn't involved in game planning. You are the HC, a few short meetings where they run their strategies by you and you critiquing them should be the bare minimum. If not attending actual practices and seeing how planned plays and situational plays are gonna be done. Taking a son to his first bowl game and it being a rout is one thing, it being a rout and then the HC basically saying he didn't give enough of a s*** about the game to even involve himself is another. I've always been soft on coaches on this forum. with Gus till he admitted to being ok with being average. With Harsin till he went from a dude struggling to a dude actively trying to destroy the team.... and hell, I'm still not even saying fire Freeze... but my god, his comments about that bowl game sucked. Most things can be forgotten after the next game... but when it's the last game of the season it sticks with you awhile more.
  9. I'm good with this 👍 He didn't get a lot of carries so he doesn't get talked about much. And his hype was for returns which wasn't lived up to. But that kinda overshadows that the guy did decent with his limited carries, averaged like 4 1/2 yards a carry. And some of the harder opponents were his better games. A&M: over 7 YPC UGA 4.4 YPC Arky he got 6 YPC.. not a tough opponent but still SEC. LSU stifled him for 3.3 There weren't any other tough games where he got 5 carries or more. I could see the same for him for next year, doubt he'll go through any huge changes. ALL that to say I wouldn't worry about him taking a good share of any other backs carries, but he's not dead weight either
  10. You are a hilariously silly goose. Keep it up man Not prostrating yourself before any HC at AU. Or being an apologist for every HC hire. Is not a requirement for being an Auburn fan. Some twisted logic; to see Auburn fans watch AU get it's butt beat by NMSU/Maryland, hear the HC wasn't involved with game planning, and see another year of 'cleaning house' and be upset about it. Then claim those people are only upset with all these negative happening because they are "bamtard trolls" I agree with all three of you guys. Jap, I'm hoping when we see the hires it will alleviate some of the perceived problems. Hope! Dag, 100% agree. Can't wrap my head around the posters who ascribe to "Harsin was so bad at his job, that now his replacement can't do all facets of their job" Chaotic, That was 100% my hangup yesterday. Gus's OC carousel had worn me down over the years. Had really high hopes Freeze would bring at least a year or two of stability, and was wrong. Yet you are also right that that does not mean it's going to lead to the same outcome 🤷‍♂️ Just gotta wait and see.
  11. What Addikt said basically. But upon reflection, I mean WHO could possibly recruit and be a HC. Surely he never did both those things at OM or Liberty right? And if you aren't gonna be the HC you've been at every other stop due to recruiting so hard... why show up on the field on saturday? That's prime 'cruitin time!
  12. From the bits I found searching for it. Seems Freeze has called the offense plays his ENTIRE career. Until hired at Auburn. Was his first time ever not doing it. What I could not find was anyone asking him why he chose 1st year at Auburn as the time to deviate from his career norm.
  13. Agree, or at least don't strongly disagree with anything you got there Except that bolded part, we've had that said about multiple coaches in the past... but Freeze is the hand picked HC by the single biggest booster we got. Surely he didn't get the guy hired just to not let him do his thing.
  14. I would argue they are both of importance, one being more doesn't mean the other isn't at all. The OC is meh cause HF I guess doesn't really need a traditional OC. But the DC, it seems weird to say to everyone you just don't have the talent and it'll take time to get things on track, but then the coordinators aren't given time to build and teach the defensive philosophies they use. All a moot point as OC doesn't matter and Titan said the DC was a team poison type personality. Also, I'll defend Gus when someone says he's the worst ever. But that ain't the same as enjoying the never ending OC carousel thing
  15. Hey, no bammer here neither. But man, how great is Alabama huh? Just about the best school ever. And Auburn? Puh! Even their attire is better right? You just try headin to the east side of your trailer park to score some crystal in an Auburn hat and see what happens to you. Leaving empty handed I'd bet.
  16. Odd few questions but yes. Question 1: Coords are fired more often than HCs, since any HC firing leads to coord firings. Then they can also be fired on their own. Question 2: I don't know how often Saban has fired both his coordinators after a season. Can you tell me the last time he fired his OC and DC at the end of a season? Question 3: I would say both, can you point out the great winning programs that have no stability in their coordinators? If you are better than good.. a top tier team. You are going to lose them now and then as schools will want them to be their HC. Which is a bit different than the reason Auburn has went through 10 billion coordinators in the past 10 years.
  17. Actually Auburn hired him to be a head coach, not an OC. It should work out well though, I've read multiple times on this forum all the good plays this past year were Freeze, the bad ones were ones he didn't call, or sometimes... didn't even participate in game planning.
  18. The 'mean talk' I figured that was just another rumor, cause how does that work? If it's just tough talk tell the others not to be so soft. If it's actually demeaning/demoralizing/debased why let him continue to do it for the entire season? Or are you implying something happened off the field that has not/can not be spoken about at the current time? 🤔 🤷‍♂️
  19. This^ Ron Roberts (and all coaches) need to be given 3 years at least to instill their ways of coaching. Right guys? Or is that only a Harsin/Freeze argument? And all other coaches it becomes a "The league moves fast nowadays, get it done in 1 year or get out"? I just wanna make sure I'm on the same page as all you big brained folk.
  20. Nice! vapid/droll. Using some mighty highbrow words Rex Though I've forgot they were a band for the past 25-30 years. They did pick the winners themselves and chose Auburn as the best college participant and my kids HS as the winner of best HS participant. So I'll say their judgement is spot on. Talking with the people at the HS what is kinda weird is the prize. $200,000 in band equipment. But when they inquired what kind of equipment they couldn't get an answer. Director joked that next year they might have a huge electric guitar section.
  21. I read that too Hank, though I read it here. So no clue if it's accurate or not
  22. A "Mickey Mouse" high school offense don't forget.
  23. I've had my fill of 'let's have a HC that still does his old job too' I'd like to have a HC that is just a HC, and an OC that is an OC and not a 'I'm here to help the OC/HC and be a scapegoat". We've gotten alot of that at Auburn the past decade, so much so that I think it's become normalized for alot of the fanbase.
