  1. I get it. But we’re about to put our LT in the NFL, beat Bama, and contend for titles. UK is a perennial SEC East average team. We should be able to win this kind of battle. And if we are going to keep pace with our rivals, we need to.
  2. Stinks on Flax if we miss. Huge position of need and we get the JUCOs who arrive in the summer, are coming off surgery, and have serious grade issues. Kentucky gets the healthy early enrollee with 3 to play 3. Not exactly optimal from a planning standpoint.
  3. Hate to do that to you @Mikey Hopefully E will have good news to share this morning on the situation. I found one thread about it on a free UT site and it seemed to be about his wanting to take part in the February signing day at his high school so him and his teammates could all have their day together. Again, that was one reference from a free UT site. Hopefully he will go ahead and sign tomorrow.
  4. @ellitor starting to hear that Jay Hardy may not sign Wednesday. You hearing anything?
  5. When he decommitted there were several articles about how hard it was to get a kid with all of that in-state pressure. I guess Clemson figured out how to work around it.
  6. Bama spin machine probably did that. Tomorrow his feed will be a series of deep and thoughtful tweets. 😅
  7. Don’t worry. I’m sure our super charismatic o line coach, being aware of our desperate need for stud recruits, has worked tirelessly to form a tight relationship with JC and his family and will reel him back in. 🤕
  8. We just got a commitment from JUCO #2 O Brendan Coffey tonight. Hope Cohen stays but if not we’ve got Coffey, Zierer, and Buskey coming at OT.
  9. Just my opinion, but I believe if we get him to the UGA and UAT games and he sees Jordan-Hare at its peak he might come back to us.
  10. I fully agree that we can compete with them. We’re fully capable of beating LSU, UGA, and Bama this year. And no one wants to more than me. But we are 9-22 vs those teams the last 10 years. There is a talent divide, but not a substantial one in my opinion. To your point, we have a small margin of error. I believe that margin of error comes down to about 1-2 more elite players per year. And we also agree that better player retention and development would help.
  11. Better depth of talent then. But in LSUs case, they have about a third more players in the NFL than we do. That’s a talent divide. My point is we cannot afford to lose a Trenton Simpson/George Pickens level talent if we are going to keep pace with those rosters.
  12. AU consistently puts together top 10-12 classes and has a great roster. Unfortunately our biggest rivals are consistently getting top 5 classes. That works out to about 1-2 elite players per class. Example: we have 3 Five stars on our roster, LSU has 7. Our recent head to head records vs UAT, UGA, and LSU reflect that. We have to stop losing talents like Simpson, regardless of the reason.
  13. I do love KS and appreciate how hard our defense plays. But after 6 games and about 250 passes thrown against us, we have exactly 1 interception. One of our senior safeties is consistently taking bad tackling angles and getting caught flat footed on pass plays. And we have zero speed rushers on a roster of 85. For us to have a chance vs our 3 looming rival games, those things have to be addressed.
  14. It want out interior guys jumping, just Big Kat and I think TD once. Both of them have a history of doing that, and I don’t understand as juniors why they are still doing it regularly.
  15. I haven’t seen this mentioned, but I was happy to see James Owens-Moss start and play a lot. When I watched him, he seemed to give great effort and blocked pretty well. Always happy to see a walk on have success.
  16. Great review, Coach. I always learn a lot from these. Most of us realize that this is not the most talented group of o linemen we've had. But with 5 5th year seniors, it is disappointing to see so many breakdowns in assignments, and confusions amongst the line. It’s one thing to be beat by a bigger, stronger opponent, but 5th year seniors should have minimal mental errors. Army was physically outmatched vs Michigan Saturday, but made up for it with technique, hustle, and grit. I hope our line starts doing the same.
  17. Different topic question E. I know it’s early but are any of our O line commits expected to be early enrollees? Thanks.
  18. https://www.sunherald.com/sports/college/junior-colleges/article166591862.html My dream isn’t going to stop,’ says former Oklahoma receiver playing for MGCCC August 11, 2017 03:00 AM, Updated August 11, 2017 01:57 PM Watch Torrance Gibson’s 1st practice back at quarterback Former Ohio State Buckeye Torrance Gibson was back behind center Monday as Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College opened fall camp ahead of the 2017 junior college football season. By McClatchy Perkinston It’s somewhat ironic that Zach Farrar has found his way to Mississippi. As a dual-sport standout at Southlake (Texas) Carroll, Farrar had a number of schools after him before he verbally committed to Mississippi State. About three before signing day, the 6-foot-3, 209-pound receiver had a change of heart and signed with Oklahoma. But things didn’t work out there. After redshirting in 2016, Farrar announced in May his decision to transfer. About a month later, he arrived at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Farrar pointed to his love of baseball when asked why he left the Sooners. It was his first sport growing up and, to be honest, he was pretty darn good at it; good enough to be a 26th round selection by the Chicago White Sox in the 2016 MLB Draft. “My biggest thing was the opportunity to play baseball and football. When I was transferring from Oklahoma, one of the main reasons was because they took me out of baseball,” Farrar said Monday morning after MGCCC’s first fall practice. “The main reason I went to college was to play both sports and I’m not going to stop that. My dream isn’t going to stop. When I transferred I thought I’d have to sit out another year for football as well as for baseball. “With this, I can play (football) my redshirt freshman year and then have three years of eligibility left for baseball.” Former Mississippi State commit discusses transferring to Gulf Coast from Oklahoma Former Mississippi State commit Zach Farrar has transferred from Oklahoma to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. A former MLB Draft selection, Farrar is looking to play baseball and football at his next stop. By McClatchy At Gulf Coast Farrar has been in Mississippi for over a month, but he admitted it’s taking a while to get used to the combination of heat and humidity. “The first day of practice and all I could think about was this Mississippi heat. I had to get acclimated from where I was in Texas and Oklahoma last year,” he said. “It got to me a little but I had to push through. “... I’m in shape but this heat is something else.” Gulf Coast graduated the bulk of its receiving yardage from a year ago, so Farrar should be a go-to target for whoever takes a stranglehold on the quarterback position, whether it’s incumbent Larry Sisson or Ohio State/Cincinnati transfer Torrance Gibson. Farrar said he’s already started to build connections with both QBs. “I started to get close with Larry. We’ve been hanging out off campus and stuff. He’s a cool guy,” he said. “Torrance is just a baller. At 6-5, he’s a big guy who came from Ohio State so he knows how to play the game and what college football is all about.” What about MSU? Does transferring to the Magnolia State help MSU with its former commit? “(Receivers) coach (Billy) Gonzalez stayed in touch with me. He’s a good guy,” Farrar said. “I’m just going to see what happens on the recruiting trail.” Regarding his recruitment, Farrar said he’s in no rush to make a decision. “If everything goes to my plan, I plan on being out of here in six months, going to the school of my choice,” he said. “I don’t really have a preference right now. Just taking it day for day.” One thing is for certain: Baseball will be in Farrar's future. “That dream is never going to die,” he said. “I’m still going to play both sports.” 1 of 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College wide receiver Zach Farrar makes a catch during practice on Monday. 19. One of the biggest problems of recruiting low numbers for a particular position, is it doesn’t breed competition. If it’s just me and 1-2 other guys, I feel pretty comfortable working into the rotation. If it’s me and 4-5 others guys, I’m probably not so comfortable. We need to recruit more and better O-lineman if we want to quit finishing 5th in the SEC West.
  20. I think entering the portal just means they can have contact with other schools. Gus said the day after he entered, he was still practicing with the team.
  21. For those who have studied his game film, how is DJ’s top end speed, and what recent AU/SEC back would you compare him to?
  22. I think it’s both. But I respect your opinion since you follow it more closely than I do. I would encourage you to read Rob Pate’s article on 247. He touches in depth on both parts of the equation. He makes some great points.
  23. I’m basing my point off of NFL talent and head to head games. LSU has almost as many players in the NFL as Bama, and significantly more than us. UGA has more NFL players than us as well That and our head to head record with those teams over the last few years indicates to me that their is a big talent gap between us and them. It cant all be coaching.
