Soooo why did Marcus Harris go to the draft again?
e808 replied to GwillMac6's topic in AU Football Forum
Regardless he got drafted. Him coming back to Auburn guarantees him nothing. Auburn has a new dline coach and defense coordinator. He did what he thought was best for him and wish him well -

IMO , outside of getting drafted a little higher this is a deal for Harris. Going to a team like the Texan that’s on the rise with a defensive minded coach. Now it’s up to him. Hard to compare the NBA draft to the NFL as u have a much deeper pool in the NFL -

Again I said other than pay. Bama is no benefit to him if his goal is the NBA. Strike while ur stock is high -

I think we can agree to disagree on the huge part. The only benefit is NIL. If he returns to Bama I don’t see how that improves his game. Even if he is late 2nd round developing in the league is more beneficial than college IMO -

Not sure why he would even entertain coming back outside of NiL. Based on what I have seen not sure what benefit it would be to stay. I can kind of understand Broome. Like continuing to show extended range and need to get better from the line -

Sears has already declared for the draft. I think his game is similar to Brunson -

Yes big man who can also shoot outside and inside. Jokic is very hard to check because he can shoot from anywhere on the floor . Giannis wasn’t the greatest from the outside but have been improved over the years -

I haven’t watched much of UConn. I would say they are the exception and not the norm. In the NBA everyone pretty much needs to be able to shot the three. Why do u think people are saying that Eden and UConn’s big man game probably won’t translate well into the NBA -

Denver and Milwaukee absolutely play that way. Denver is one of the highest percentage teams in the league . Outside of second chance points it’s the reason they beat the Lakers yesterday. KCP got hot from three. Let’s take a look at Milwaukee what’s the reason for them grabbing Dame . It sure isn’t for defense and driving. U also have Middleton and Portis shooting threes . He wasn’t doing that at Arkansas. Even Giannis has been trying to get better at threes. The league is all about points. Not sure how u can say the three point craze is over when some game are in the 120-140 area *why is Broome trying to extend his range🤔 -

Not sure about a more balanced approach in the NBA . Everything is still played on the perimeter. GSW took D’Antoni approach and upgraded it with even better snipers. The same this year with the Celtics. They shoot so many three it’s ridiculous. Yes Kelly system became average but imagine that system being run with let’s say Georgia players. U can have a system but fit and caliber of player matters. -

Since the NIL and transfer portal started I have become numb to what a young man might do. Some of is them some of it is family. Do what you gotta do or think what’s best. At this point it is what it is. I just try to keep in mind without knowing the conversation that the coach can in a round about way tell a player to hit the road . Just like a player to up and leave. I am curious is to what Aden was told. Maybe he had selective listening or not hearing at all. I have a hard time believing the offense wouldn’t be anything but inside out with Broome in the post. Anything other than that wouldn’t make much sense IMO. Anyways Auburn BBall will be just fine -

Cmon man. I know rivalry emotions run high but Alabama and ISIS are not even remotely the same. -

I don’t get why people are mad. Most wanted him gone. I didn’t think he played well at all but hopes he stick around to try and make it right. No one is privy to the conversation that was had between CBP and Aden. Good luck to him . Hopefully he just stinks it up when Auburn plays them -

Sheesh why so serious. Most preferred he hit the road anyways. Not sure about the turncoat. It was probably mutual between both sides -

For sure there is a change in philosophy. Regardless would hate to see him in a Bama uniform and balling out. -
I agree last years pitch won’t work. Last years results are probably heavily being used in a negative way. Not sure what the sweet spot is for the recruits to say hey it looks like they are moving in the right direction. I also think it will be hard selling playing time to a QB if Walker White is truly the guy in waiting. I guess that’s why CHF gets bad the big bucks to figure it all out.
-
I don’t think it’s mostly about the money. A key point is he wants to see how Auburn performs. This thought won’t be exclusive to him. I believe this season will be critical in which direction the program is going. If Auburn does well I believe it would be easy to flip him IMO
-
The beautiful thing about this is PSU has the challenge of hanging on to him. If Auburn has a good season I can see him flipping. I think some want to see where the program is heading first
-
I think Caddy not being there had to play into it as we saw what occurred when the dline coach moved on
-
Committed to PSU. Sounds like as mentioned above proof of concept will be big for these recruits
-
Could it be that he wants to get to know his running backs coach better. Wasn’t Caddy his primary recruiter. Personally I would prefer him to soak it all in and once he commits it’s a done deal.

I will respectfully disagree on the good guard play. All the guards had to do was manage the game and don’t turn the ball over. Auburn front court masked the back court deficiencies. As u can see in the tournament u would need contributions from your guards -

The interesting part in all of this is when AH made the SEC Freshmen Team. Some people caught heat for saying they don’t see how because he was struggling so bad. -

I wish the young man well. For whatever reason things went down hill once conference play started. Hopefully he goes outside the conference so he doesnt have the chance to become a thorn in Auburn’s side. Mitchell comes to mind and it seems he is doing well in the pros
