--LB Jake Holland said a lack of communication, specifically with players receiving conflicting calls, explains why the Tigers allowed 38 points to Utah State on Saturday. "We weren't all on the same page and obviously that can be devastating to a defense," he said.

--How important is the team's need to be stronger along the point of attack? "Paramount. It's of the utmost importance," coach Gene Chizik said. WOW, I thought AU's defense was playing "vanilla" against USU, that article says they are going to simplify the defense this week.

Yes, that is scary. I can't imagine us laying off the WR's next week. The defense has to get off the field faster, one way or another.

Might have been vanilla playing but they were over thinking items....

streamlining and simplifying doesn't necessarily make the defense less able. It just opens them up to make the right decisions faster....

Computer example....you can streamline a windows install with all the drivers you need to get up to date immediately......this keeps you from having to install them one by one, but you know the process and it gets you to the end result faster...

This will automatically happen when they get some experience under their belt.  It'll come naturally when they get experience.  It's gonna be a long season for these younguns, trial by fire and our schedule will not give them a moment to breathe.
