Elephant Tipper 430
5:47 pm Jay Tate: --LB Jake Holland said a lack of communication, specifically with players receiving conflicting calls, explains why the Tigers allowed 38 points to Utah State on Saturday. "We weren't all on the same page and obviously that can be devastating to a defense," he said. --How important is the team's need to be stronger along the point of attack? "Paramount. It's of the utmost importance," coach Gene Chizik said. "If we don't do anything else better, we'd better be more physical than we were last week all the way around." Auburn plays No.16 Mississippi State this weekend. --The punt and kickoff coverage teams were aggressive against Utah State on Saturday, which gives coach Gene Chizik confidence the same traits will shine through in other areas. "Our special teams players are made up of the same guys that play on offense and defense, so we've got it in us," he said. Tigers --Coach Gene Chizik said the defensive playbook has been streamlined to help players react rather than analyze. "We've got to have our team playing faster," he said. "Any time you can eliminate any second- or third-thought process, it's going to allow you to do that." phillyeagle 130
Yes, that is scary. I can't imagine us laying off the WR's next week. The defense has to get off the field faster, one way or another.
Plaric 4
Might have been vanilla playing but they were over thinking items.... streamlining and simplifying doesn't necessarily make the defense less able. It just opens them up to make the right decisions faster.... Computer example....you can streamline a windows install with all the drivers you need to get up to date immediately......this keeps you from having to install them one by one, but you know the process and it gets you to the end result faster... keesler 5,924
interpretation = less thinking, more natural reaction to plays This will automatically happen when they get some experience under their belt. It'll come naturally when they get experience. It's gonna be a long season for these younguns, trial by fire and our schedule will not give them a moment to breathe.
