Two very good women golfers signed. They are not in the top 10 ranking but both are solid players

The Auburn women's golf team signed Alex Harrell, head coach Kim Evans announced Tuesday. Harrell, who comes from Central High School in Phenix City, Ala., will join the team for the 2012-2013 season after graduating high school a year early. Harrell will join Megan Wilshire (Georgetown, Ky.), who signed back in November of Georgetown, Ky., in the signing class.

"We're really excited to welcome Alex to the Auburn Family," said Evans. "She has tremendous talent and she is excited about getting in here and working hard and seeing how far she can go."

Harrell has earned more than 40 wins in high school and junior tournaments, including 11 career Southeastern Junior Tour wins. She was the 2011 Alabama State Champion and named the SEJT Female Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011.

At Central High school, Harrell is in the top 10 percent of her class and has been named to the Principal's List from 2008-2011.

"We feel great about her signing here and feel like she's going to make an immediate impact," said Evans.

Harrell is leaving high school a year early to join the team after committing last October. She is the second Central High School alum to leave early and join the Auburn women's golf team, joining current senior Haley Wilson.

The Tigers will return to action this weekend as Auburn travels to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Southeastern Conference Tournament. The three-day event will take place at Blessings Golf Course.
