Who will Florida hire to replace Muschamp?

It will be interesting to see where Boom lands, and who takes over for the Gators. The SEC is a tough place to work.

Maybe a "hard place to work"...but a much harder place to be successful.

JMO but WM will have some decent opportunities to look at. These days, like in major league baseball, it's not much of a career killer to be fired from a top job.

He learned a lot at UF that will be of benefit somewhere else. The thought that he will jump into a DC job somewhere is hard for me to accept. It might happen but generally, once a person has been the top guy...it's hard to go backwards over a career hiccup.

It depends on what he's willing to do. If he's willing to go to a CUSA or Sun Belt level of program, he can probably step right into a head coaching job. If he considers that not worthy of his talents then he will have to step back and be a DC at a major program. All depends on that ego.

Florida: According to Yahoo Sports’ Pat Forde, Colorado State head coach Jim McElwain has emerged as a leading candidate for the Florida job. It's noteworthy that McElwain has a buyout of $7.5 million.

I heard his name mentioned as a sort of darkhorse candidate back last month. Interesting choice if it turns out to be him. I know they likely want an offensive minded coach.

Florida: According to SB Nation’s Steven Godfrey, Hugh Freeze is considering an offer from Florida with a base salary around $4.2 million annually. In addition, Ole Miss is attempting to produce a similar offer

Have the Bammers started claiming that the reason Muschamp was fired was because of Nick Saban? It seems like whenever there's been some type of coaching change in the SEC that it's been because no one can keep up with Nick Saban.

They won't mention this...gotta remember that all of them said he was hired because he was a Saban disciple so there is no way they can take credit for his firing too. Even that defies bama logic.

nothing is beyond that bunch.

Florida: The school has released a statement, saying, “We will have no comment on the recent multiple reports other than to say that we have made no job offers to anyone and reports claiming that are false.”

Florida: CBS Radio in Philadelphia is reporting that UF athletic director Jeremy Foley will reach out to Eagles head coach Chip Kelly to gauge his interest in returning to college. It’s worth noting Kelly has a show-cause penalty that expires on Christmas day.

Leverage works again for an underpaid coach in demand....another couple years and Freeze will be making Saban money.

PS...nobody mentioning John Gruden for the job?
