Is crime really going up or really going down?

I personally feel it's going up.

And here is a fine example of a sick crime. I really feel for this young man.http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/NEWSV5...BEATEN0127W.htm

I'm not saying that the crime is outrageous just because of this ONE incident. This is just an example.

Some of you may remember that a 14 year old was shot in the jaw, while walking home from school. The shooter was around the same age.

If you are able watch MPD and see that just about everyone they pull over has no liscence, no insurance, sometimes a swithced tag. And sometimes the police will be easy on them :puke: Just about everyone they pull over is black.

How many of you shop at Montgomery Mall....................... at night?

I do realize that not everyone on here lives in or around Montgomery, but those that do... What are your thoughts?

A couple of things:

1. A program like MPD isn't going to show routine traffic stops where they just write a ticket for a malfunctioning tail light to some mom from Wynlakes. That's boring. The majority of what they are going to show are the stops that result in something a little more exciting.

2. What is your point about almost everyone they pull over being black?

I'm just asking if there was some particular reason you pointed that out. Are you proposing some specific (or even general) course of action based on that information?

I think the officers go easy on them to help race relations in the city, but I don't think it works that way.

The easier the police is on the law breaker, the fear of breaking the law diminishes

Painters for the city of Montgomery have to get a police escort to certain areas of the city. The painters goal when they go over there is too clean up the grafetti of gangs.

Of course as soon as they clean it up, a few days, weeks later, it's back to the same ole thing.

Should city employees be put into this situation of going to such high crime areas?

I see a lot of complaints, but not many workable suggestions for better ways to handle things from you. There are several options to consider with regard to this latest complaint of yours:

A. Clean it up, even if it requires a police escort for the painters.

B. Let it go. If idiots want to paint all over their neighborhood and make it look like crap, they can just live in it. Who cares?

C. Massive crackdown on crime in these areas.

Maybe you can think of more? What are you suggesting or are you suggesting anything?

One of the suggestions was on the lines of what I was thinking......... Stop painting the graffiti

Keeps people out of danger, saves city time and money.

But some would argue that this would show a victory for the criminal, but I say, why stoop to their level and just follow them around and clean up their messes like horses.

C. would be nice, but then, it would cause Alvin and his followers to scream RASCISM",

Although I don't see it as rascism, I see it as crime.

I don't know if someone told you about the checkpoint that John Wilson had set up at Montgomery Mall, but 100's of citations were given, several arrests were made, but Alvin and his people came out hooting and hollering

And in the news, rather than showing a job well done for the police.... no that's to tame and too boring for the media.... they had to spice it up with the race thing

Basically a double- edged sword

It's not a point, it's a fact.

Most crime in Montgomery is done by blacks, that is a fact.

142007[/snapback]

Montgomery is over 50% black... therefore, the majority of the crime is done by the majority of the population.

Exactly! They are now, slightly, the majority

Wynnsong 10 is taking a step in taking control of their establishment. They are not allowing people under 17 in without a parent or guardian.

This was due to an incident over the weekend, that resulted in teenagers being kicked out of the movie theatre for disruptive behavior. Those kids, then went to the WAL MART next door and started messing up merchandise.

The news stations and paper tried to overlook this particular situation, but because of Talk Radio running it in the ground, it finally came to life.

Listeners of DON MARKWELL'S VIEWPOINT actually began to call the news stations, newspapers, police dept, and all establishments that were involved in the situation.

And finally last night, WSFA 12 finally covered it.

There is no way to solve the crime problem in America. Political Correctness and the civil rights acts of the 1960's prevent any workable solution. Our society has made its bed and now it is time to lay in it.

Teachers that have disruptions in their classes where the kids have no discipline, like when they threaten a teacher, cuss at her, etc.........

They aren't really able to speak up about negative situations. I understand that the majority of the students are not the problem, but the ones that are problems should be dealt with.

They feel if they speak negative about a situation that they might be punished in some secret way. Some teachers have been known to seen emails to talk radio shows without their name or which school they work at.

This is the root of the problem. The school system wants to believe that the school system is getting better in Montgomery, but in fact it's getting worse. Teachers do all they can, but troublemakers in the class hurt the teacher as well as the students. And the Montgomery leaders don't want to be told of the problems.

While at the Senior Bowl yesterday and observing all the classless, ignorant, rude people there, I came up with an idea... Why cant an hour be taken each day in a kindergarden class to teach manners and ettiquite? People obviously aren't getting it at home, so give it to them elsewhere. I wouldn't expect this to cure everyone, but I'm sure the material would take hold in some children who would otherwise be lost, especially if its driven into them while they're young. If it seems to work, make elementary schools adopt the principle for all grades.

In a perfect world, they wouldn't have that role. However, I think they need to assume it because parenting has gone to crap for some children. Citizens have to pay for it no matter what, so the schools might as well do what they can so the products of the education system graduate with higher standards than they currently do.
