NCAA Regional - Game 1 vs Coastal Carolina

Recommended Posts

Tigers absolutely pouring it on. Howell reaches base on a double play ball thrown away by the shortstop, and a run scores. Then, Ward singles to bring him home.

14-5 AU B8

GREAT showing by the offense today.

Is Coastal just throwing out meatballs or are we truly hitting well?

Probably a bit of both. Coastal not a GREAT pitching staff by any stretch of the imagination, but anytime you can pound out 17 hits and 14 runs (at least), it's a good day. This could do wonders for confidence for these guys.

maybe some of both but mostly the batters are just hitting what's thrown to them.....going opposite field and not trying to take everything out of the park.....showing potential for a good weekend..

AU hitters look like a different team than a week ago....batters going where the ball is pitched.....not trying to pull everything......getting some nice opposite field hits and keeping the rally going....

Well....it's not SEC pitching today either.  Not sure what kind of pitching CC has but probably not quite as good.

Either way.....it's still great to see Auburn's offense finally get hot . Hope it stays in high gear and Auburn makes it to Omaha....

Team ERA near 6 a game....but they are a very good hitting and scoring team.

That's true but mostly we could not hit those mid week pitchers either.    CCU plays in a band box stadium and tough place to pitch in so not sure if the ERAs are too significant…..or the batting averages either.    JMO but the swings just look better today.......

Nice solid win.  Other than literally just a handful of bad at bats and bad pitching approaches to a hand full of batters, this was an absolutely great game by auburn.  I’m mean if the wind is blowing slightly less, Williams catches what ended up being a three run homer.

Auburn played some decent mid-week teams after some really tough SEC weekends. Younger players just really struggled with all the grind. School's out now and they are concentrating on having some fun. Lifting the pressure was good for them today.

Always nice to start off a Regional with a win. I want to kick the buzz out of Atlanta anyways. :)

What a fun game to watch.  Happy for Steven to finally flip the switch and a good day for the whole lineup to start the regional with good vibes. Time to become a FAMU fan for a few hours haha!

Also, really classy, understated sign-off by Paul Ellen at the end of the radio broadcast with Brit Bowen. “Standing in for my broadcast partners Rod Bramblett and Andy Burcham,...”

Success breads success no matter who you are playing and it should carry over to the next few games!

Good grief. I was just reading the game recap and it stated coastal Carolina had 72 runs in their last five games. That’s crazy. I feel even better😬

Just got back from the game.  We looked good today, better than we have recently.  Coastal's pitching didn't look great, but their hitters did a good job of putting the ball in play at the beginning and middle of the game.  We absolutely poured it on at the end which was nice.  Good, solid, confidence building, win.  Stadium wasn't packed but the AU fans definitely outnumbered the Coastal fans by about 2:1.
