The 2022 Alabama Senate Race FINALLY has a Sane Republican Running.

Katie Britt just announced she'll run. Her opening statements were all about Conservative, Christian values, prayer, putting Alabama first. Notably absent were any mentions of Trump, which immediately separates her from her 2 other opponents. She worked as Shelby's chief of staff and then was president of the Business Council of Alabama. 

 

Her 2 opponents are 

1) Mo Brooks - The mentally unstable Trump Superfan who enjoys conspiracy theories. Famously went on record saying that he believes that Rocks and dirt falling into the ocean is what causes any raises in the ocean level, not climate change...a belief that he stands by to this day. He also enjoys being a twitter troll. Probably is the favorite to win the senate election.

2) Lynda Blanchard- A businesswoman and was formerly Trumps ambassador to Slovenia.  She is running on a solidly Trump, MAGA America First platform. So essentuially she is a woman version of Mo Brooks who will try to gain attention and support by spouting off crazy things in front of a camera. Her opening statment is :

“If you’re sick of career politicians, insiders, and swamp creatures that stand for socialism or cheerlead censorship, then I’m asking for your vote to stand strong for Alabama by sending a true outsider to the Senate,” Blanchard said in the press release. “My pledge to you is simple: together, guided by God’s blessings and your support, we will give the Swamp a heckuva dose of the common sense and conservative principle that it needs to truly ‘Make America Great Again’ – just like President Trump did.”

Needless to say I'm supporting Katie Britt so far because there is a 0% of Democrats winning no matter who they run so the goal is to try to get the least crazy Republican into office. Hopefully Britt will stay on a more old school Republican platform and wont go full MAGA like her opponents, even though it may put her at a disadvantage to not do so.

i read the other day where shelby said she is the first person running who is actually the best qualified to run for years. if she lets off the trump crap i might support. i will have to wait and see.

Yeah, Shelby has endorsed her, which I'm sure it has as much to do with the fact that they worked together for years as much as anything. Her campaign website seemed to be your standard Christian Republican platform on everything, but she never mentioned MAGA, stolen elections, and I think she only referencedTrumps name one time on her entire platform list, so it looks good to me so far.
