Highlights from today’s SEC Media Days in Birmingham:

· Auburn OL Marcus McNeill crushed Paul Finebaum by accidentally sitting on him. The other sportswriters took up a collection to have the grime cleaned from McNeill’s suit.

· Vandy Coach Bobby Johnson was detained outside and missed his interview when Wynfrey security guards did not recognize him. Commissioner Mike Slive was called to the entrance and was not able to give a positive identification either.

· Vandy player Moses Osemwegie cited the tradition at linebacker as his reason for choosing the Nashville school. Osemwegie was immediately tested for illegal drugs.

· Preseason All-Conference QB Jay Cutler, when asked what it would take to get off to a fast start, replied, “Everyone in college football wants to win the first one, but only 50% of teams do.†Cutler also talked about his completion of Stating The Obvious 101 this summer.

· Former UGA players Davids Greene and Pollock showed up to promote their new coffee house in Athens. They were photographed sipping out of the same coffee cup in a publicity stunt and quoted as saying they had been drinking coffee together since peewee football.

· Mississippi State players, Jerious Norwood and Chris McNeil, both talked of how much respect they had for the new attitude that Coach Sly Croom had brought to the program. Now, instead of being “pitifulâ€Â, they had raised their sights to “mediocreâ€Â.

· Auburn Coach Tommy Tuberville talked about missing Nick Saban this season. He also said that he hoped the new LSU coach would use his QBs in an “insane and irrational†manner during this year’s matchup in Baton Rouge.

· Phyllis from Mulga continued her campout for Mike Shula’s appearance on Thursday.

· Flyers for tomorrow’s “Final Appearance†of UK Coach Rich Brooks were distributed to the members of the media.

very nice. thanks for the update.

If anyone wants a few minutes of sheer entertainment at Alabama's expense, go to finebaum.com & listen to the interview with that David Lamm guy. about 45 minutes in, he totally goes off & says 'ALABAMA FANS ARE STUPID' over & over & over. It's hilarious. WDE! Enjoy!

Plus, he probably had Tennessee licence plates on his car, so they were probably trying to serve a late subpoena from Tommy Gallion!
