Golden Eagle 410
For lack of a better place to put this, Kasey Cooper spoke to Auburn women athletes this week. She will graduate from UAB med school this week spring and begin a residency in ophthalmology in Milwaukee this summer. Have also read that Tiffany Howard will graduate from AU Vet school and Kaylee Carlson will graduate from AU Pharmacy school this spring. Former softball stars continue to shine! https://auburntigers.com/news/2023/3/23/auburnyou-auburn-softballs-kasey-cooper-mentors-at-wings-event.aspx Edited March 25, 2023 by Golden Eagle

saminbama 741
Lizenby with a 2 run pinch hit blast in the bottom of the 5th. 4-0 going to the 6th. Penta has 11 K's and given up 1 hit. Edited March 25, 2023 by saminbama
saminbama 741
So apparently Lizenby pinch hit for Godwin in the bottom of the 5th. Godwin was reinserted to play defense in the top of the 6th, but it wasn't reported to the umpire. The first batter struck out, but Mizzou appealed the substitutuion violation and the out was wiped out and the batter returned with a 1-2 count. Penta went 3-2 before she struck the batter for the second time. Ridiculous. No harm cause Penta struck out the side and has a season high 14 K's. Going to the Bot 6th. Golden Eagle 410
Game 1 Recap: Auburn wins 4-0. Penta tied her record of 17 strikeouts in a game but it was her first time to do it in SEC play. Previous Auburn pitcher Chardonnay Harris had 17 strikeouts against Florida several years back so Penta tied Harris's SEC record. Auburn had 4 runs on 4 hits with 0 errors. They struck out 7 times, walked 1 time, and left 1 runner on base. Penta threw 116 pitches (she pitched 7 innings while Jordan Weber only pitched 6 innings because Auburn won after 6.5 innings). Missouri had 0 runs on 2 hits with 0 errors. As noted above, they struck out 17 times, walked 1 time, and left 3 runners on base. Jordan Weber threw 87 pitches. Auburn still struggling, IMO, at the plate. Also as noted in earlier posts, their runs came on two 2-run HRs, one by Lindsey Garcia in the first inning (Peralta was on base after a walk) and the second by Aubrie Lisenby in the 5th inning (McCondichie was on base after a base hit). Like last week, they popped up and lined out quite a few times. Struggled to get runners on base. Happy for the win, though! Next game at 6:00 pm tonight will be streamed on SEC+. What's ridiculous...the substitution rule or the fact that Auburn was caught violating it? Couldn't figure out why CMD was arguing with the umpire - was he claiming they substituted Godwin back in? saminbama 741
Bottom of the 7th. Runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Ball is hit to SS. She throws to 2nd to get the out. 2nd baseman tried to turn 2, but the throw was high to 1st. Runner scores. We walk it off. 2 - 1. Not only can we not hit, but we look terrible trying to bunt. We just can't execute on offense. Mizzou helped us out.
Golden Eagle 410
Game 2 Recap: Auburn wins 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th. Auburn had 2 runs on 7 hits (all singles) with 0 errors. They struck out 5 times, walked 2 times, and left 5 runners on base. Shelby Lowe pitched the first 1.2 innings and gave up the earned run; she threw 47 pitches. Annabelle Widra took over with 2 outs in the second and pitched the remaining 5.1 innings. She didn't allow any runs and threw 84 pitches. Missouri had 1 run on 7 hits (including 3 doubles) with 1 untimely error. They struck out 1 time, walked 2 times (both intentional walks by Auburn), and left 10 runners on base. Lauren Krings pitched all 7 innings for Missouri and threw 96 pitches. Based on the first two games, would have to say Auburn and Missouri are pretty evenly matched. Penta dominated the first game while pitchers were more evenly matched in this second game. Auburn continues to struggle at the plate - agree with previous comments that most of the team can't reliably lay down a bunt. They also seem to overcompensate and swing too hard at the ball when they're trying to drive home a runner rather than just making contact and putting the ball in play. Don't think Brie Ellis had a hit in either game today??? Next game at 6:00 pm Monday night will be broadcast on SEC network.
AUBwins 10,107
Bri has struggled lately. She was getting RBIs early in season before the home runs kicked in. Got a quick 8 HRs, now struggling to get anything at plate. Her defense has been really good, but maybe she is pressing a bit again and striking out or popping up lately. AUBwins 10,107
Missouri helped us but Roach got to the plate in time after sliding to third it looks like. Girls found a way to win one of these games instead of losing it. So that's a plus.

slot canyon 1,346
Missouri appears to have good fielding which shows up in the SEC team stats; currently #2 in that category. Ironic that a throwing error was their downfall in game two. Their player at 1st base made a good play off the AU dugout and made the play at home plate a close one. I would like AU to clean up their fielding play as we rank in the bottom half and have problems with throws across the infield.
OlderWhiskey 977
I watched the 2-1 game on replay last night. Fairly interesting to watch despite the low score. Some interesting plays and about a half dozen reviews by the umps. Packer saved a run in the first on a ball hit by Connold. It was over the fence, but Packer got it in her glove and brought it back in, only to lose it when her elbow hit the top of the fence coming back in. Held her to a double, and she didn't score. Packer figured in another unusual play later in the game. She was on first when someone hit a healthy drive to left. The left fielder went back for it, it hit her glove and bounced up, and she wheeled around and recaught it. Packer had rounded second by this time, and was doubled up at first. Mizzou also turned a nice 4-6-3 DP in the game. Oh, and Dean actually gave Connold two intentional passes. I still remember his first SEC game vs. LSU. it went extras, and LSU had their fastest player (Andrews) on second, and their best hitter up with two outs. She played first, can't recall the name right now. First was open, so it was a no-brainer to put her on. But no! Dean pitched to her, she looped a hit into left, and Andrews scored the winner. But to give Dean some credit, he inserted Roach to run for McCrary after the latter singled in the 7th. Roach wound up scoring the inner on a fairly close play. Would McCrary have made it? 1

Will never forgive him for pitching to Baily Hemphill a few years ago. She had a run scoring double and a homerun. I think she had all of their RBI's in a Friday night game that bammer won in our house. A couple of walks would have been just fine.
