:gt: fans are getting over the top in smack.

A little history from AUTigerinMemphis on ITAT.

I told you that Tech fans were worse than Georgia. All I got was, "Oh Tech fans are nice." blah blah blah. Make no mistake that Tech was the school that refused to come to Auburn to play. Georgia came without protest. In fact, Tech said that Auburn would come to Tech, begging us to play them at Grant Field.Tech has NEVER respected Auburn. ..and history has proven that. At least UGA, as obnoxious as they are sometimes, understand Auburn, our history and traditions. UGA came willingly to Auburn to play. Auburn leads the series with Tech 47-40-4. But consider the fact that 64 of the first 72 games against Tech were played in Atlanta on their home field. Furthermore 5 of those 8 played away from Atlanta were in Birmingham's Legion Field..another place we hold so dear!

A little reality check for Tech fans:

1. Nobody on this board is saying this game is a cakewalk. Nobody denies that you have talent. Nobody is saying that you cannot win. It will be a hard fought game on both sides. Obviously we have some question marks. But you won the game 2 years ago for 3 reasons: 1. Lack of OC for Auburn. 2. Lack of offensive unity for Auburn. 3. The humiliation we were suffering from the USC game the week before. That year has nothing to do with this year.

2. It is very stupid to come onto our board and talk about you having a bigger program. Why use 7 years? 98 and 99 were two of the worst years in Auburn history. A coach that resigned and mid-season and left us with very little SEC talent. The point is that CTT has built our program into a national power. Auburn has beaten more top 10 teams since he has been here than any other school. We have two outright SEC West Titles, one SEC Title, and two more shared SEC West titles. Georgia Tech had lost 10 in a row to Auburn until the 2003 game. Nobody in this entire country will say that Tech has a better football history than Auburn. Nobody cares how many SEC titles that you won in the 1930's. The point is you have a mediocre program with horrible fan support. You are the only school to actually DECREASE the number of seats in your stadium. In 2003, you sold out TWO games..Auburn and Georgia. And I think we know why. We have 87,000 fans per game. You have??? We have 30,000 at our spring game. We've had 5 SEC titles in RECENT times. We've had more SEC titles in the past 25 years than anyone except Florida. We have winning All-Time records vs. Florida, Tennesee, Georgia, ..those teams from the East that you have tried to point out that we do not play when we won our West titles. FYI We play Georgia every year, and all of those West titles occurred when we played either Florida or Tennessee.

3. JH is more intimidating than any place you play in ACC competition...except maybe Va Tech. And only because I've never been there. FSU..nope been there. Clemson..sometimes but they suck for the most part. JH has a mystique that you are about to find out about. And trust me, if you think you're going to be heard over the other 80,000..BRING IT.

5. Please spare us the "lack of respect" talk about how everyone is talking about Auburn being undefeated, and your players are tired of hearing about that. Guess what? IF ANY team has a lack of respect it is Auburn. We are the ones that played 15 games in a row and won. We are the team that went 13-0 and had to watch an undeserving team play for the national title. We are the team that is getting very little respect despite the fact that we have won 15 games in a row. We are the team that is told "you are no good" because you had 4 stars get drafted in the first round of the NFL. So excuse us if we don't quite find your "lack of respect" talk having much merit. Your team hasn't done a damn thing to deserve any respect. And I hate to break the news to you, if you beat us, everyone will say, "Oh they lost everyone." So don't think you'll gain anything by doing that either.

Since you insist on going back..

You can go to any point in history, and guess what? You will not find that Tech has been more of a winning program than Auburn. You talk about how many bowl games you've been to 8 -6 or whatever? But WHICH BOWLS? During CTT's tenure, we've been to 2 Citrus Bowls (the highest payout of bowls next to the BCS Bowls), one Peach Bowl, one Music City Bowl and 1 Sugar Bowl.(BCS). Did you play two bowls in Idaho??? And one in some Champs Sports bowl? Let's talk about quality.

I never really had any anger towards Tech in my 4 years at UGA. I would rather have beaten 4 SEC teams every year then Tech.

Unless you were from Atlanta or had Tech connections, the game has lost its luster.

Nobody cares about Tech because they are....Tech

They have basically no fan base. A coach who sucks. A stadium that has more visiting fans then home fans in big games. A campus full of the ugliest girls known to America.

I hope you won't have to worry about that.

Anyways, I went to GA Tech for one semester because I thought I wanted to be a biomedical engineer. Boy was I wrong. I've grown up an Auburn fan because both of my parents went here so this was my religion, and I continued to be an Auburn fan while at Tech for two horrible months. I never ever saw Tech as a dominant football program. As a matter of fact, they have a total of three RV's that tailgate every game. UGA game, of course, there's more, but on average, three!!! During games the students sit around and talk about how to make atomic bombs and what not. It is devastating to be a part of and makes me so proud that I came to a real university. One that not only has outstanding academics, but also other programs to entice its students. After all, college is just as much about the life lessons you learn as it is the academics you learn, and I can guarantee you that no one at Tech receives the quality college experience like I have at Auburn!!

OOOOOhhhh, I think I might cry. How I want to turn in my degree and start school again!!

Anyways, WAR DAMN EAGLE AND I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL SEPTEMBER 3RD!!!!

WRECK TECH!!!!!!

I find it amazing that anyone can talk smack about this game. From everything I've seen on this board about GT, it seems everyone gives them props and admits this will be a knock down, drag out affair. How Tech fans can talk trash with a straight face with their history is ridiculous.

Delusional bugs. :big:

Tech will beat us this year too--

Tech 24 Auburn 13

The play of BC determines our season, and he will have a not-so-good game.

sorry...

Guess you missed the fact that we:

1. Dont we lead the all-SEC preseason list? That has to amount to some talent level.

2. We return one of the best linebacker core in the nation (look it up)

3. We return one of the best defensive lines out there (also can be looked up)

4. We return one of the best WRs in the SEC (yep, that can be backed as well :big: )

5. We return one of the best kicking games in the SEC (this is getting old... :) )

6. We return one of the best Head Coaches in america (Wartim, you know the saying," As voted by his peers!")

7. We return one of the best Offensive Coord. in the nation ( *sigh)

8. We have 5 possible All-Americans this year: Courtney Taylor, T.J. Jackson, Stanley McClover, Marcus McNeil, Travis Williams (ouch, that had to hurt your cause  )

9. Last but not least WE HAVE THE BEST FAN BASE THAT ANY TEAM COULD ASK FOR (I think everyone on the board can agree?:au::au: )

So tell me.....Tech wins this how??

I've seen better teams lose at home. I'm worried about the game because Tech is a good team. They are not a great team but we do have a new QB that has never started a game, let alone a night game. If you aren't at least somewhat worried about this game, you are delusional. We have a good team, but QB play is very important in the game of football.

Brandon Cox may not have started a college game, but he's been in a few. It's not like he's some straight-out-of-high-school true freshman playing in front of 90,000 people for the first time in his life. Sure, he will not look as seasoned as Jason did last year, but I don't expect him to fold under the pressure. And I am quite confident in Borges' ability to read Brandon's frame of mind and mold an offense around his capabilities.

Plus, if he starts to get a little rattled, Big Marcus is there in the huddle to calm him down. [And really, how rattled can anyone be if Marcus McNeil's got your back? :) ]

Technically, Marcus does not have Brandon's back. Marcus plays left tackle, which means he would protect the blind side (or back) of a right handed QB. Cox is left handed, so really, Troy Reddick has his back.

Sorry, I know I am a know it all sports geek, but I am just so ready for Saturday that I am anxious...

But, Marcus has been cited by CTT as one of the leaders on this year's team, so he will be able to calm him down in the huddle.

oh sorry, vatz--i guess you didn't read my post...i think it said something like BC has a not-so-good game. (which I thought was a valid reason, but since you disagree...)

Reggie Ball has experience, and BC has very little (also can be looked up)

GaTech won the previous meeting (also can be looked up)

We have a history of not performing well in big opening games (getting old)

They have one of the best recievers as well in the country, and we have a new corner playing back there.

I love Auburn, but I think we are going to lose this one...sorry-just stating my OPINION, which I thought this board was for.

I hope that I am wrong-- :au::au::au:

What is a not so good game? You mean he is going to turn the ball over alot or take alot of sacks and put us in long situations that we can't convert? Or be completly ineffective and leave us one dimensional?

I've seen plenty of Qb's have not so good games and still win big games due to the surrounding cast.

I just see this season as Cox going how the team goes, do we want to put him in the situation where he has to win the game..... no. He has a quality line and quality recievers that are going to make his life easier, if the running game is going that takes more pressure off. We have a OC that has proven an ability to keep defenses off balance. If our defense is forcing three and outs and turnovers and playing like they did last year then he isn't playing from behind and he is facing defenses that will be getting tired and worn down. The surrounding talent can make the transition to Cox easy and simple.

Reggie Ball was a three year starter last year and threw the ball out of bounds against Georgia in the final minutes of the game......... cause he didn't even know what down it was. Johnson has been stopped by defenses that don't even have near the talent that Auburn does. They are not some unstoppable jugernaut.

Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss all won the previous meeting also before last years game.

Tech has a good team with some legitimate threats, but I feel that Auburn has a equal number of threats with more talent and depth across the board.

Oh really? So your a good scout when it comes to talent indicator? Or what a qb can do? Might want to talk to some coaches (ex. Borges) before making that assumption that Cox has a "not so good game." But anyways, lets see what you got:

Reggie Ball has experience, and BC has very little (also can be looked up)
Ok, Reggie Ball has played more games than BC. BC is still no newbie to Auburn, being 21...and being here since he was 18. Still, experience is a factor..you win this one.
GaTech won the previous meeting (also can be looked up)
Wow, using that logic...we shouldve never gone undefeated last year...because some of the teams we played that year beat us in their previous meeting. Not a very good reason here why Tech wins this game.
We have a history of not performing well in big opening games (getting old)
While we are on history, Alabama used to win a national titles back in the day, conference championships alike....what are they doing now? :big:
They have one of the best recievers as well in the country, and we have a new corner playing back there.
We have one of the best receivers in the country...hell RECEIVERS! Courtney Taylor leads this NFL hyped squad.

Then off to defensive backs...Tubs was quoted to say David Irons couldve competed with Carlos for the Thorpe award last year...obviously he was just stretch talking, but he is stressing the talent at the CB position. I wouldnt sweat it.

I love Auburn, but I think we are going to lose this one...sorry-just stating my OPINION, which I thought this board was for.

I hope that I am wrong-- :au:   :au:   :au:

Heres to hoping your wrong in every way :)

The most comforting thing I have read so far about BC is what the Auburn defense said about him in interviews. Travis Williams said the fans will be shocked at just how good he is. Is it Saturday yet?
