Does anybody remember a tight end that played for Auburn possible 89-92? Think his name was Malone#80.

The AU media guide has only one Malone listed Robert Malone a back from Birmingham 1911. The name does sounds familiar, but I struck out with the media guide.

Robert Malone from Blount High School in Pritchard, Alabama 6'4.5" 255 pound defensive end. Malone is a strong, 350 pound bench press, and quick, 4.7 forty yard dash, pass rusher. In 1998... Malone was called the "crown jewel" of Auburn's recruiting class. Was named to the Birmingham News' list of the state's Super Seniors. He picked Auburn over Alabama. DeepSouth Football Recruiting News ranking a perfect 10. In 1998 was taken as a partial qualifer, practiced but did not play. Quit the team in 1999 before he played in a Auburn uniform because he was not pleased with being a third teamer.

He was part of Auburn's 1998 stellar recruiting class that included names like Don Page, Willie Northern and Stanford Simmons... All were very highly rated players. What does this tell you about recruiting rankings?????

Shawn Malone #80 from Bob Jones H.S. He was a freshman in 1992. An injury cut his career short. I think it may have been a neck or back injury.
