SLAG-91 1,483 Posted December 5, 2005 Share Posted December 5, 2005 Their defense has improved substantially from a few years ago...their offensive numbers from this year are seriously inflated by playing three of the biggest creampuffs any one team has scheduled in the same year (Sam Houston State (1-AA), Indiana State (1-AA) and FL International). The fact that Alabama is playing Texas Tech will have me in the Tide's corner on 1/2/06...it takes a lot to do that. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
tgr4lfe 220 Posted December 5, 2005 Share Posted December 5, 2005 Check this out....TT offense passing O is #1 averaging 403 ypg BUT their rushing O is 103rd averaging 107 ypg and scoring O is 4th at 42 ppg. Bama D better just play a nickel package the entire time and ignore their rushing game. The TT D ranks 70th in rushing D giving up 156 ypg , 26th in total D at 328 ypg, and 24th in scoring D at 19 ppg. It will be interesting to see if Bama can move the ball and score on this D. biggest question is can they keep TT from scoring, we could have put 40 on them easily IMO. SLAG-91 1,483 Posted December 5, 2005 Share Posted December 5, 2005 You absolutely cannot play your base defense against Tech, unless you play a nickel all the time...Mike Leach is a brilliant offensive mind, even if he is weird. If you haven't played against their offense, it is very difficult to scheme for. That said, Joe Kines is a decent DC and Alabama has the players to slow them down some.
