Over the past 14 seasons, I have kept totals on possessions from each Auburn game. Here is a comparison of the 2005 team to the other 13 Auburn teams since 1992. The comparison was made with the first 11 games of each team.

Offense:

Avg number of possessions: 143 ( 2005: 129 )

Avg number of scoring drives: 49 ( 2005: 56 )

Avg number of TD drives: 37 ( 2005: 46 )

Avg number of FG drives: 12 ( 2005: 10 )

Avg number of punts: 54 ( 2005: 41 )

Avg number of turnovers: 20 ( 2005: 14 )

Avg number of missed FG's: 5 ( 2005: 8 )

Avg number of loss on downs: 6 ( 2005: 4 )

TD Pct: 25.5% ( 2005: 35.7% )

*The average over the past 14 seasons is given first, followed by Auburn's 2005 totals.

Defense:

Avg number of possessions: 143 ( 2005: 136 )

Avg number of scoring drives: 33 ( 2005: 30 )

Avg number of TD drives: 24 ( 2005: 16 )

Avg number of FG drives: 10 ( 2005: 14 )

Avg number of punts: 63 ( 2005: 64 )

Avg number of turnovers: 24 ( 2005: 13 )

Avg number of missed FG's: 5 ( 2005: 6 )

Avg number of loss on downs: 6 ( 2005: 7 )

TD Pct: 16.5% ( 2005: 11.8% )

Overall, we were very productive on both sides of the ball but our FG pct and defensive forced-turnovers need improvement.
