He has graduated--he's just going back for the formal ceremony.

Happens all the time.

I'm sure this is correct. The little blurp yesterday SI had yesterday when it was the feature article made it seem he had not yet graduated. Should have read the actual article a little more carefully.

This sounds like Ben Tate's situation. He may decide to go back to his high school to participate in the ceremony. I think most early graduates do this.
