quietfan 233
Has this not been posted yet? I don't see it: http://www.al.com/sports/birminghamnews/ks...2720.xml&coll=2 New Iron Bowl date gives Tide an edge Monday, May 22, 2006 Christmas 2007 will come early for the Alabama football program. How early? It'll arrive the Saturday before Thanksgiving. That day, Alabama will not play Auburn. That way, Alabama will not play LSU and Auburn back-to-back. It's the next best thing to not playing the Tigers and the Tigers at all. Mike Shula has Mal Moore and his fellow SEC athletics directors to thank. At least the ones who voted in favor of the new proposal that will require each conference school to play its final regular-season game the weekend before the SEC Championship Game. The Iron Bowl will slide back to Thanksgiving weekend, giving Alabama a breather between LSU and Auburn. .... Here's why, if you're Alabama: Playing LSU and Auburn back-to-back is no way to replace either of them as one of the dominant programs in the West. A double dose of Tigers has been too much for the Crimson Tide. Since the SEC arranged those games on consecutive November weekends, Alabama is 1-3 against LSU and 0-4 against Auburn. Alabama is riding a seven-game losing streak to LSU and Auburn. To close that gap, Alabama needs more than six days of separation between the Tigers and the Tigers. Starting in 2007, the Tide will get it. Auburn, naturally, voted against that. Auburn people argue that Alabama simply can't handle the kind of rugged Iron Bowl lead-in the Tigers have faced forever in rival Georgia. Alabama people counter that, while Auburn and LSU have been reloading in recent years, Alabama has been rebuilding. That timing may be more relevant than scheduling. Either way, Tommy Tuberville has handled Amen Corner lately better than anyone but Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Playing Georgia and Alabama back-to-back hasn't hurt Tuberville's Tigers. They're 5-2 against each, and they haven't been swept once. To quote "That 70's Show": BURN !
Tiger in Spain 0
What a bunch of whiney pansies. Maybe they'll petition the conference to reduce the Iron Bowl to a 1 quarter game next.

quietfan 233
Actually, I was so busy laughing at Scarbinsky's awesome slapdown of Bama ego with facts that I wasn't even concerned about the Bama fans themselves, whining or not. Let's hear it again: A double dose of Tigers has been too much for the Crimson Tide...Alabama is riding a seven-game losing streak to LSU and Auburn...Alabama simply can't handle the kind of rugged Iron Bowl lead-in the Tigers have faced forever... and: Tommy Tuberville has handled Amen Corner lately better than anyone but Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Remember, "if you take away the first quarter we (uat) won."
