At this point last season we had 1 commit, Greg Smith....This season we already have 9. 6 3star, 3 4star...

We didn't get our 9th commitment until Sept 28th last year.

Look for some commits this weekend at our camp...

Could this class be the....BEST CLASS EVER?!?!

Not to say you all won't haul in a good class or that the class assembled so far isn't an accomplishment, but early commitments are a trend all across the country this offseason. I can't recall a recruiting year in which so many guys have opted out of the classic 'take you officials first' regimen.

Look at the class Texas has already reeled in. Looks like USC's finish product from last year that ranked #1, but the thing is, it's only July!

Exactamundo........This year has seen more recruits Commit early than ANY of the years past. That Old Saying by the Great Coach Pat Dye, "The Big Dawgs Walk Last" apparently doesn't apply anymore.......But, least we forget Signing Day isn't until Feb. so, these Kids can still Decommit at any time. Just like with any recruiting year.......It's still a crapshoot.

I don't feel that these early commits are indicative of anything except that the internet provides a wealth of information to recruits that has not been available or utilized in the past relative to the potential schools they are considering. Also, they can monitor the commits the schools they are interested in are receiving and make judgements as to what their competition will be and whether or not the school is filling out it's list fast or not. This may prompt them to commit earlier as well.

These early commitments are presenting problems for high school coaches who suddenly have players playing their senior seasons ALREADY committed to a University with little left to prove and certainly wary of injuries. Insome cases, players who have not received scholly offers and feel they are better athletes than those who have offers are opting not to play their senior year feeling they are a failure and will not receive an offer. Rush Propst at Hoover is proposing that NO scholly offers be permitted until October to prevent such problems. How do you feel about this? :au:
