Chavez: Bush Is 'The Devil'

Venezuelan President Lambastes Bush, 'Imperialist' U.S. In U.N. Speech

"The devil came here yesterday, he came here talking as if he were the owner of the world."

(CBS/AP) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez took his verbal battle with the United States to the floor of the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday, calling President Bush "the devil."

"The devil came here yesterday," Chavez said. "He came here talking as if he were the owner of the world."

The leftist leader, who has joined Iran in opposing U.S. influence, accused Washington of "domination, exploitation and pillage of peoples of the world."

"We appeal to the people of the United States and the world to halt this threat, which is like a sword hanging over our head," he said.

He also said the U.N. "doesn't work" in its current system and is "antidemocratic." He called for reform, saying the U.S. government's "immoral veto" had allowed recent Israeli bombings of Lebanon to continue unabated for more than a month.

"Venezuela once again proposes today that we reform the United Nations," he said. He drew tentative giggles at times from the audience, but also some applause when called U.S. "imperialism" a menace.

Chavez lambasted Washington for trying to block Venezuela's campaign for a rotating seat on the U.N. Security Council. He said if chosen over U.S.-favorite Guatemala in a secret-ballot U.N. vote next month, Venezuela would be "the voice of the Third World."

"Venezuela's Hugo Chavez is rapidly becoming the new Fidel Castro, but with petro-dollars, at the U.N.," said CBS News Foreign Affairs Analyst Pamela Falk, "and as a candidate for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council in October, his anti-Bush comments are making him increasingly popular with member states in his campaign for that position."

But the U.S. government warns that Chavez, with his close relationship with Iran, Syria and Cuba, would be a disruptive force on the council.

Chavez hailed the recent meeting of the Nonaligned Nations, presently headed by Cuban President Fidel Castro, as an indication that the international bloc, which espouses many views contrary to those of the U.S., is growing.

He asked the international community to lend it's support to the movement, even suggesting the U.N. realign itself more closely by relocating to somewhere in the southern hemisphere. "I have suggested Venezuela," he said.

Chavez several times accused Mr. Bush of have a double standard on dealing with terrorism. He said the U.S. government was "protecting terrorists" who were involved with anti-government actions in Venezuela, including a former CIA operative and militant Castro foe wanted in Venezuela for the bombing of a Cuban airliner that killed 73 people.

Before leaving the podium to applause, Chavez, again inciting the "devil" reference to Mr. Bush, said, "it smells of sulfur here, but God is with us!"

Even a dumbass leftist dictator who has stole all elections in Venezuela and jailed any and all opponents, gets something right once in a while, "the U.N. "doesn't work" .

But then "the U.S. government's "immoral veto" had allowed recent Israeli bombings of Lebanon to continue unabated for more than a month." Am I mistaken in remembering that Iranian backed and funded Hezabolla was firing 100's of missiles daily into Israel?

Apparently he doesn't visit this forum. If he did, I'm quite confident he would have "fingered" Hillary as the Evil One.

He is wrong about Bush. At best he's a lower level imp. :poke:

There are 2 reasons why I think Axum is the place to be. One is that the obvious place to go for safety is a mountainous area. The Ethiopian highlands is a very large mountainous region that will give us good protection from tsunami and huge winds.

The other reason is that the Ark of the Covenant is at Axum and the Ark is an obvious thing to gather around at a time of exodus. If you consider what is said in Isaiah (2.2) "In the last days the mountain of the Lord's Temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations shall stream to it." - this specifically says "in the last days" and also the "mountain of the Lord's Temple" must mean St Mary's Church Axum since there is no other building containing the Ark and none of the previous Temples was on a mountain.

In the last days the mountain of the Lord's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations shall stream to it. Isaiah 2:2

In the last days the mountain of the Lord's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. Micah 4:1

The important Bible passage contains the following principles:

1. God does not permit any mixture of truth with error (even if its 99% truth). Only Satan mixes truth with error to maximize his deception. Thus, any system of religion that incorporates errors (such as Sunday being the Lord's Day) along with truth is not from God. For "what communion hath light with darkness?" "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all" 2 Corinthians 6:14; 1 John 1:5. The truth is 100% truth or it is not truth. There is no place for man-made teachings or traditions.

"separation represents the first practical step you can take to be God's child"

2. The duty of a person aspiring to be in harmony with God is to not be a member of any church or system of religion that is built on Satan's foundation: the mixture of truth with error. This separation represents the first practical step you can take to be God's child, and rejoice in Him as your loving Father.

As we separate, we can become sons and daughters of God. For we have demonstrated an understanding that there are only two systems of religions in the world: God's and Satan's, and thus we have willingly chosen to sever any link that ties us to a system of religion founded by Satan.

3. Knowing that when you leave Satan's systems of religion, you lose friends, family, influence, work, etc...God's reassures you: " I AM the Almighty." It means that He will more than compensate you for all that you have lost. Jesus promises you: "There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life"Mark 10:29, 30.

4. After we come out from Satan's systems of religion the Lord may lead us by the influence of the Holy Spirit to cleanse and keep us from sin, that communication may be open between God and man. However, God desires us to obey and serve Him, not by compulsion, but willingly. Love to God because of gratitude for what He has done to make this reconciliation possible is the very foundation of religion. To engage in His service merely from hope of reward or fear of punishment will avail nothing.
