DKW 86 7,440
New arena, new jumbotron, more coming... http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/huntsvill....xml&coll=1 Auburn's Jordan-Hare will get new video boardSaturday, November 11, 2006 By PHILLIP MARSHALL Times Sports Staff pmarsh9485@msn.com AUBURN - Auburn's Board of Trustees approved a plan Friday for exploring the construction of a state-of-the-art video board in the south end zone at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Trustees gave athletic director Jay Jacobs the go-ahead to hire an architect to study replacing the 10-year-old board currently in place. Jacobs said upgrading the sound system at the stadium also could be part of the plan. "The one we have is outdated," Jacobs said. "We can't get replacement parts for it. You have to have an architect because of wind loads, things like that. It's our No. 1 priority for the stadium next year." A new video board, Jacobs said, would probably not be significantly larger than the current one but would be high-definition and include the latest technology. "We might gain a few feet in size, but it won't be a lot bigger," Jacobs said. "The important thing is to use the existing structure. We want to update what we have." Jacobs said, once he has a cost estimate from an architect, he will return to the Board of Trustees for final approval. Eventually, Jacobs said, he would like to add more video boards at the stadium but that ongoing plans to build a new basketball arena will take priority. Trustees also approved plans to renovate the coaching staff's offices and the players' locker room at the football complex. They have not been renovated since the building opened 17 years ago. jdub5793 0
I know this has been coming for awhile, but what ever happened to continuing the expansion of Jordan Hare? I would rather have thousands more seats, adding to our home field advantage instead of a new jumbotron, which, they say, will not even be much larger... tigerfan1234 0
Yeah, what's the point if it won't be much larger? That is a waste of money. Go for the megatron.
OKieAuburnDoug 1
It couldn't be much bigger unless it was on or near ground level.
