It looks like KSU is extremely similar to Auburn. Manhattan, KS is the same size as the city of Auburn, but it doesn't have a sister city that tacks on another 30K people. From that regard, Auburn is bigger. Looking at the Auburn-Opelika metro area, the population is 123K. Their claims of stepping into deliverance country are based in pure imagination.

The John Deere comments are ironic considering they're in the middle of farm land. Also, the last time I checked, there was no shame in having an agricultural career.

The racist comments are pure ignorance, even from the token "I live in the south" guy. My personal living experiences have shown me that less diverse places tend to be more racist simply because they are ignorant, however these same places commonly assault the Southeast for being racist. I would argue some of the people making these comments fit this bill. The AO area is about 70%/25% white/black, while Manhattan is 87%/5%.

From wikipedia:

The racial makeup of the city was 87.28% White, 4.86% African American, 0.48% Native American, 3.93% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 1.30% from other races, and 2.07% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.49% of the population.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhattan,_Kansas

The racial makeup of the city was 78.05% White, 16.79% Black or African American, 0.19% Native American, 3.31% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.57% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. 1.55% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auburn,_Alabama

The racial makeup of the city was 55.03% White, 42.89% Black, 0.19% Native American, 0.93% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 0.68% from two or more races. 1.07% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

I must say I'm a little disappointed. I've heard several people brag on KSU fans, about how nice they were, how loyal they were, etc. What I'm reading is far from that. Its one thing to take some friendly pot shots at opponents, its another thing to slander their character when you know absolutely nothing about them.

nice work.....nice work.

I will check their little message board again AFTER the game and see what they have to say, when all they are left with is their comments about how we are all racist, backward rednecks. Their ignorant opinions about what we are all like is going to make it hurt that much more when we destroy their team.

Good point. Their comment about Muschamp "What kinda softies are they growing down there in the deep south? How can his players take him seriously?

LOL @ Lamark being sad to be away from mama."

They'll get to see EXACTLY what kind of softies we grow down here. Tray, go get 'em!

The k-state fans who post there can't be a good cross section of their fan base. Otherwise, they have NO idea what they're gonna be facing come Sept 1st. NONE.

Sounded like a bunch of good little socialist students to me....

I do think that most of the KSU fans will be shocked when they come down here and they do NOT see people with overalls on, straw hats on and missing teeth. Many people in the North really have that view of the South(maybe not so bad). But, they do have the view that Southerners are not too bright and are a bunch of rednecks. I know because I am from the North and I hate to admit it but at one time felt that way to a point. Now, I love the South, would only go back where I am from to visit, (I love to visit!) I also have to correct my family that live up there a lot about the South. I get really mad now when those stereotypes are made. It is not ok to think that of Southerners, it is shameful and from what I read on their board, they are pretty prejudiced and are hypocrites.

So, anyway, they will be SHOCKED when they come down here and we are all just normal people! It seems they will also be shocked when they go home after a beating! LOL!

This guy seemed to know what he was talking about. I just briefly browsed the rest of the board and ignorance abounds. Its pretty pathetic.

Kudos to this guy for actually talking football and not just slobbering ignorance all over his keyboard.

You won't see a defense like this in the Big 12 kids. Down.......set........SACKED!!!

you're right. we don't have very many boys playing defense in the big 12. there is a general rule that you have to go through puberty in order to play in the big 12. apparently the SEC doesn't adhere to this train of thought.

If you're going to come over here and talk smack, at least have something to back it up with. The SEC had 5 of the top 25 defenses last season.

3. LSU

6. Florida

8. Georgia

19. Auburn

23. Alabama

The first Big 12 team is Oklahoma at Number 16. The only other was Texas at 22. Apparently our pre-pubescent boys know how to play some D.

Any more wildly outrageous statements you'd like to make?

The link I provided was to the NCAA website for ranking defense. What you do to Kirk Herbstreit on the internet is your business.

First off, welcome to OUR board.

Second, we have a separate forum for smack, we call it the woodshed.

Third, are you actually defending some of your brethren from the threads linked??

And where did ESPN come in to this??

No way that is a true representation of the KSU fans!

Obviously, you have not had the pleasure of meeting "Perfect by Nature" in the last couple of years...

this thread is ******* hillarious.

Actually, I'll tell you what is hilarious. The original thread written by a bunch of Kansans making fun of things to do in Alabama. As if Kansas were the cultural center of America. The cosmopolitan state of Kansas, home of deep thinkers and cultural icons. The veritable dimple of the universe.

Well, I've done a lot of business in Kansas. The people are nice, if a bit corn-fed. But it certainly isn't the Elysian Fields, my friend. In fact the place is a bit backwards, even by Alabama standards. Which means it's certainly not a place that should be looking down on anybody else for sure.

Now that we've dispensed with that unpleasantness, we sure hope you have a great time down here. You'll find we're very hospitable to visitors--A quality that still counts for something, in our humble opinion.

Kansas St. fans are really starting to piss me off. I was looking forward to this match-up but at this point I'd just like to hang 50 on them and send them on their way with their tails between their legs.

its a real shame, considering how great the Washington St. fans were last year.

Interesting. Not endorsing cousins marrying, but evidently California, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, and New Jersey all seem to be in the same boat as Alabama. Is Kansas more advanced than those states, too?

You really should learn how to use charts better to make an argument. I guess they don't teach that in Kansas schools.

so you're saying you want to marry your cousin?

also, way to ignore the link at the bottom of that post. just push it into the shadows, thats the way to do it. don't ask, don't tell.

Oh, I didn't ignore it. I just wanted to find this fine, fine cultural offering of your state, courtesy of Fred Phelps:

http://www.godhatesfags.com/

It's also pretty dishonest of you to brand us with the KKK, given how those guys ran amok in your fine state as well. So I guess what I'm saying is that you can cherrypick the worst either state has to offer, and Alabama and Kansas come out about dead even. Except our women are far better looking. So is our scenery.

Please, please, please turn up your sarcasm meters.

The KSUFans.com board is +/- 90% complete sarcasm and +/- 5% BS. If you dig a little deeper, you'll find that most KSU fans (even those on the forum you're letting get under your skin) view this game as a great opportunity for exposure as well as a CHANCE for an UPSET. They wouldn't think it was an upset if they had no respect for your team.

Just take everything they say with a grain of salt and do your thing.

I can't wait for Sept. 1st. I was hoping to go to the game, but now I'll have to settle for watching us play UT in Austin instead.
