WOW! These ladies are flat out getting done so far this year.

Auburn - The Auburn women's basketball team made history on Friday night after defeating Sam Houston State by a commanding score of 119-54.

The 119 points is the most points that have been scored in Auburn women's basketball history. The previous record was 116 points, dating back to the 1986 season.

Also making history in Auburn basketball was junior Whitney Boddie. Boddie became only the second player in Auburn basketball history, both men and women's, to record a triple-double. She logged 13 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Leading the Tigers in scoring during the game was junior KeKe Carrier, who posted 19 points, and senior DeWanna Bonner with 18 points.

The leading scorer for Sam Houston State was Mary Beth Renz, who scored 12 points on the night. The Tigers will play next at Liberty on Sunday afternoon.

More information is still to come on tonight's win...

I was there, and Auburn could have scored 130 if they really wanted to. They were up by 50 at the break, and had already scored 63 points. They held SHS to 4 points until less than 7 minutes in the first half.

Dewanna Bonner is the best all purpose threat on this team, but Whitney Boddie is one of the best shooting guards I have seen. She is hitting it from all over the court, and her confidence is out of site. Smalley is also playing with a lot of confidence. Carrier was a beast as well. Everyone was in on the act, as you might imagine.

Our Lady Tigers are fun to watch. The Temple and Ohio State games were very competitive and showed our AU women play with a great deal of heart. Unfortunately they will not play in Auburn again until next year ... January 3rd. Then the SEC schedule begins at South Carolina on the 8th of January. The first SEC game at AU will be against Florida on Jan 11th ... Sunday at 2:00 pm. I hope to come down and watch.

We really need to get more people in BEMC to watch these ladies. They deserve larger crowds than what we have had in the past. The OSU game was special for them, and we did have a pretty good crowd. They deserve 5000-6000 in there at the least.
