#6 in AP poll

I was really hoping to see us leapfrog Texas. That would have shown some sign of the media not having favorites. We beat #8, UT beat Baylor. UT is always highly ranked, until they tank a couple of games, and they finish around 10-15. Preseason rolls around, and they claim the 5 spot until they tank 2 more games.

Yep. SC & Miami both play upset-minded opponents in Cal & Louisville. UGA has no pushover with UT. Either TX or OK will drop out of the top 5 after next week.

We're in great shape. Now is the time to work on the execution of the offense and to start lighting up the scoreboard. Besides teams above us losing, the only way to move up in the polls now is to make some huge statements against these next couple of opponents. Whether fair or not, the fools (aka sportswriters) responsible for voting in the polls are often impressed with overwhelming blowout wins over unranked teams. I don't like it any more than anyone else but that's the system we have.

AU needs to start garnering some 1st place votes every week from now until the end of the season. Ideally, AU needs to increase the number of 1st place votes every week and the only way to do that is to start hanging 40 & 50-pt margins on overmatched opponents such as La Tech, Arky, Ole Miss, & UK. That's the only way to get votes from sportswriters not hanging around the South. To his credit, Steve Spurrier understood this better than anyone else. CTT needs to understand this too.

What the hell has texas done? We have beaten two top 10 teams (one of which was against a top 5 and the other was on the road) and Texas has beaten no top 25 teams? I guess those back to back Longhorn beatdowns on Rice and Baylor are too impressive to even consider a team like Auburn jumping them.

Remember, we still have to beat LA Tech, and they showed they could upset us as well. Let's worry about ourselves and let the rest fall as it might.
