  1. Normally I would agree with that but his coaching has admittedly been terrible with the possible exception being his time at Oregon. Now that we have some real QB coaches they may be able to fix his issues if he stays around long enough. Many times the accuracy problems come from not properly setting your feet. The extremely athletic guys seem to have the most trouble with this because they know they can take off running at any point. There are a few that can get away with throwing off the wrong foot or without having their feet set, Patrick Mahomes being the most extreme example. But Robbie obviously ain’t no Mahomes. I hope the current coaching staff can either fix his accuracy issues or find a role for him where they take advantage of his athleticism. That may not be at QB.
  2. Looks like Geriner made a case for himself yesterday. Freeze was ready to go with the most experienced option but HG is making him rethink that. I believe he is going to have packages for Robbie to make the defenses have to account for the QB running the ball with the other two alternating the first 3 games to determine the starter.
  3. They doing just what they need to be doing. Relentless recruiting is the only way to turn this ship around.
  4. He thought he could coach up whoever he could get and be successful because that’s the way he did things at Boise. When Derek Mason left after the first season you had to know something was way out of whack and Harsin’s days were numbered.
  5. From the recruiting websites it looks like he counts back to the 2023 transfer class.
  6. Auburn played hell when we didn’t listen to Pat Dye in 2012 and didn’t hire Kirby Smart when he was available. Instead we ended up with Gus. Looked like genius for one year (2013) but its been pretty much downhill from there. People think Kirby might have left us for Georgia when Richt was fired but I doubt it. Dye didn’t leave is when Dooley retired. A coach spends several years building relationships and getting a program headed in the right direction they get reluctant to leave just when they start reaping the benefits. Starting over in this league is tough and it seems like we have been in a constant state of starting over since Dye resigned over the Ramsey mess. Tubby had a good run for a while for a few years but I think a lot of that was from Bammer being down while they were dealing with their own coaching fiascos prior to hiring Saban.
  7. Its got be be the ‘72 Iron Bowl for me. The Prayer, the ‘72 and ‘74 Tennessee games are also right up there for games I attended. I was not there for the Kick 6 but it has to be the greatest Auburn win ever due to the high stakes involved.
  8. As an Auburn fan for the past 65 years or whenever I was old enough to choose I expected to get screwed when the schedule came out but I am pleasantly surprised. It looks like they did a heck of a job in making this thing fair across the board. I know somebody is going to bitch about something but it looks very good to me!
  9. Y’all need to quit reading them pre-season magazines that base this year’s expectations on last year’s results. If we were down as badly as last year in the days before the portal it would take a couple of years to come back. It’s a new day and Hugh is the man!
  10. I think this new team is going to surprise some folks. Hugh now has a good throwing QB and a good running QB who occasionally makes great throws to work with. He brought in much better players for the OL. He brought in some big receivers and that is one of the main things that made his Ole Miss teams so hard to stop. They threw it up to big receivers that made one on one plays on smaller DB’s. He inherited some good running backs and brought in 2 more. He brought in an All American kick returner. Put it all together and I think he has the makings of a very good offense. He found some stud D linemen, some stud LB’s and we already had some very good DB’s. Put that all together and he has the makings of a very good defense. We already had a great punter and a great kicker. So I don’t get the doom and gloom and expectations of 5-7, 6-6, 7-5, maybe we make the Bham bowl again, etc. I know it’s a brutal schedule but I think Hugh has the makings of an exciting team that is going to give the likes of UGA, Bammer and LSU fits. I think 8-4 with a New Years bowl is the floor and the ceiling is much higher.
  11. They pretty much gave us a ticket to the Super Regional with a bunch of easy opponents on our home field but they screwed it up. Looked like crap. I do like how Coach owned it. Thats what we want from our Auburn coaches. “I didn’t get this team ready.” Carry on. Get ready for next year.
  12. We had what amounted to the death penalty except it was called a Brian Harsin.
  13. Not surprising at all. Good luck to the young man and I hope he finds a good fit where he can excel. He has put in a lot of work.
  14. I loved Freddie and Lawyer. I wish we could get even one with that type of talent. Someone to go to when you absolutely must have a big play. Wright was the go to when we needed to take the top off the defense. If speed kills he had it. Probably the fastest guy we ever had at the receiver position.
  15. Finley is not going to stick around. It’s between Ashford and Geriner. I think they both play the first few games and it eventually evolves into Geriner as the starter and Ashford being the change of pace/backup/wildcat guy. Both will play a lot this year.
  16. Auburn is historically at its best when underestimated.
  17. Every now and then we all seem to forget we have have some coaches now that can actually develop a QB. Plus we have 2 guys who have a lot of potential. I just can’t see Finley ever being a top QB but I’m not giving up on the other two. Every now a then I see a flash of greatness from Ashford. Geriner was a top recruit and he just needs a chance to develop. Both of them have only had 15 practices with QB coaches who know what they are doing. If a great one that is much further along in his development happens to pop up in the portal then by all means go get him it might get is another victory or two this year. Otherwise continue to develop what we have they both have a lot of potential they just need experience and you only gain that by playing.
  18. WTF? I thought he was going to have a major role this year? Something about this doesn’t smell right. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
  19. Dang if I wouldn’t give Sean Jackson a few carries late in games. That guy is a load and I don’t think tired defenders would want any of that! He looks like Rudy Johnson running the ball.
  20. I loved watching Lester play! He always had stickum all over him! He wasn’t gonna let one get away and was always right in the face of whoever he was covering! No zone for Lester it was mano on mano all the way!
  21. Free throw shooting more than anything was the difference in the game. They couldn’t miss and Auburn was awful. Just plain awful.
  22. If they could just hit some shots in the clutch they could go somewhere in the tournament. Same way they could have beaten Bammer on their home court, Arky the other day and numerous other losses this year. Woulda, coulda shoulda. I hope something changes but I will have to se it to believe it.
  23. I never thought Bruce would put a team on the floor that would get embarrassed that badly. He might as well start planning for next year because this bunch just doesn’t have it.
