  1. One hell of a high school QB at Ramsay in Birmingham. I thought for sure he would be another Pat Sullivan.
  2. Correct about AU fans. I can't count the number of '"can't miss" QB's we have signed who did not pan out. I remember being on cloud 9 when we signed Kodi Burns & Keihl Frazier. And going back to the 70's Chris Vacarella. The list is long!
  3. These days???? I've followed Auburn for over 50 years and it seems nothing has ever been "for sure".
  4. Who is this masked man? Not the same a4e of the past! Just to add to your Kiffen comments. The reason he is so good is his NFL background being able to pick out and exploit weaknesses of the defenses. He is one of the very best IMO.
  5. Just did a bit of research. The "potential" lawsuit was settled out of court after he hired an attorney and threatened to sue for wrongful termination. Many folks believe this was done by Baylor to keep Briles quiet. And if Baylor has lost the suit they would owe him $40 million.
  6. If Art Brile's lawsuit against Baylor hasn't been settled by the time Sumlin is let go, I don't think aTm would hire him. And not one else would either.
  7. This is nothing new. Cornelius Bennett, while leaving a basketball game on Tuesday night, told one of his high school coaches the night before signing day he was going to sign the next day with Auburn. Next morning Bennett was seen getting out of a black Ford car with two white men in it. The rest is history.
  8. Hardly a theft when the kid's parents (both of them) are Auburn grads. They just happen to live and work in the tuscaloosa area. Yeah I saw that but it doesn't fit my agenda so I ignored it I'm guilty of that too. But if Gus ever steals one from Saban's back yard the drinks are on me!

  10. Apparently his mom isn't per WDE. From his uncle..."Guys, I wouldn't get too excited...take my word for it." Hope momma has more pull than the rest of the fam. Could "unc" (uncle) possibly have his hand out? Been known to happen by relatives.
  11. TD isn't anywhere near the person Foster is. This commit is solid. what was so much different about foster? Played at AHS, didn't he? Committed early, even got a tattoo of AU on his arm. How can a commit be anymore solid than that before they sign a LOI?I didn't follow recruiting as heavily as I do now, when Foster was recruited, but I thought I recalled people being quite confident about him. TD being from a huge bama family...other than a super early commitment, what's to say he won't reopen his recruiting by October Foster could have cared less about Auburn. He committed to Trooper Taylor. Had trooper gone anywhere but Arky State, Foster would have followed.
  12. If you are a decent player and make a name for yourself there are contacts that help you in business, law, politics, and other fields. As bad as I hate to admit it, if you are a player from bama with a recognizable name it helps you after you graduate. This is every school. I have friends that played basketball and football for the university of North Alabama, it's goes for them too It does go on at every school. But as with so many things, bama takes it to another level. Not only do they have the Bryant scholarship for ex-players kids, they have a network of folks to help find jobs. To me that's subjective You can say that but from friends I know that played at AU, UA, & GA, bama has by far the best "perks". Not only while in school but after. My uncle played at bama and "never wanted for nothing" while in and after school. That being said, I sure hope we can sign Moultry.

  14. This is true. "Nepotism" occurs for every school. AU is no exception. In the state of Alabama, spuat has the lawyers and politicians on their side. wde And bankers!

  16. Sammy Coates I'm not sure I should say this out loud, but I am not opposed to following Tubbs around and seeing who he likes ... then try to steal a few. Tubbs knows hidden talent. (it was competing for the higher ranked recruits that proved more difficult) Tubs damn sure got lucky on a few after Jay handcuffed him and his staff on the recruiting trail. Keep speaking the truth; amen brother! Serious question. How did Jay handcuff Tubs? I always read that Tubs & his staff would rather duck hunt than recruit.
  17. Apparently you have not been following the saga of Westry over the past 2 weeks. Read the past few pages & that will tell you you're answer.
  18. is that what she said? But when your girlfriend's nickname for you is "Swifty", all the technique and skill doesn't help.
