What is your opinion of Stacy Searles? Not just because he played at AU but he seems to have done a good job in coaching and recruiting everywhere he has been.

Somewhat agree, but the 2nd trip was cancelled because of the snow in Auburn. AU cancelled on him.

My co-workers daughter got accepted at bama but AU refused her due to her GPA in high school. This was 3 years ago. bama has put an emphasis on out of state versus in state. $$$$$

The key to Auburn's future recruiting is getting a top player early (preferably a 5* QB) that gets our momentum going early, and this guy becomes to face of that year's recruiting. Hopefully Bo Nix will be that guy next year. AU very rarely out-recruits bama and GA as they have an advantage we don't by being the state school and each has an alumni base that is larger than ours. And in the case of bama this base is active in recruiting. One thing Kirby has taken with him to GA is the entire university ( players, coaches, faculty, president and alumni) are sold on the fact they can be a dominant national power. And the various factions within those groups are all on the same page. At AU, we have always had factions of our folks who fight with each other and can't seem to be on the same page. Too many of us want our way and if we don't get it we want to "take our ball and go home". It's been this way since the 60's and probably before. Hopefully soon we can change and get on the same page and be the consistent national power we have the ability to be.

Steele deserves a lot of credit too with the overall defensive plans.

Gus needs to personally call this dope (Lee) and cuss him out. Also needs to ban him for a while from contact with Auburn coaches/players. How frickin stupid can you be to post this a day before the kid announces. Think Saban would put up with this crap?

He is by far the best recruiter in college football. And when he came to bama he made damn sure the entire organization, from the president down to the water boys, were all on the same page. And this included the boosters who were told to get the hell out. Sure he breaks some rules and he pushes the envelope, but he can communicate with the kids and parents better than anyone else.

Kid reminds me of Jack Ganus from Birmingham. Attended UAB and when they disbanded football he needed a place to land. Auburn fans and unfortunately Auburn coaches didn't want him because he wasn't big enough and didn't carry enough stars. He ended up starting for GA and being their on the field defensive coach. I think we just landed a diamond in the rough.

The NFL folks will realize it when Auburn starts developing their players in college the way bama does. Our undrafted free agents who make NFL rosters have the ability, but they have not been developed. It takes the NFL coaches to maximize it. Auburn is on the right track at the moment with our current staff.

If you really want to judge who is an "elite" player, just look who Saban is recruiting. And I'm not talking about who Saban has sent a letter to, but someone who he is really hard after. Not a single QB we have recruited over the past 8 years was targeted by him, including JJ. Saban is the best judge of talent I think I've ever seen,

It's getting more interesting because LSU has just entered the picture. They (Orgeron & LSU) are putting a full court press on Kiffen with big $$$ to back it up, making him the highest paid OC in the country. A Kiffen. Stidham combination to go with LSU's other offensive talent will be NASTY.

Has the girl friend visited AU before?

Not sure about the powers that be, but 8 & 4 ain't gonna cut it much longer. ESPECIALLY losing to GA & UA EVERY year. Gus will get cut some slack this year, but next year he MUST beat one of the two rivals. If he doesn't, he's gone. And I don't care of he's 10 & 2.

I don't blame Barnett at all. It is a BUSINESS at bama, and he would do himself no good by staying this year and riding the bench. He has to look out for himself because for sure Saban is not thinking about Barnett's best interest.

It was published (don't know where it came from at the moment) that A&M was not recruiting Stidham. Plus it's been said that he is going wherever Briles or Briles, Jr. go. Hopefully that is AU.

23: from what some folks are saying this is pretty much a done deal with Stidham & Briles, Jr. to AU? Whole nothing is ever 100% certain, do you feel the percentages are heavily in our favor? Hopefully that's the reason Sumlin has backed off.

What Auburn coach has responsibility for that area?

He has not and he has the best offensive coordinator in college. Kiffin knows how to exploit defenses better than anyone else.

I want someone who wins, REGARDLESS! I'm sick and tired of seeing bama and others dominate college football while AU is winning 6 - 7 games per year with an occasional big season thrown in. If it's Petrino, fine. If it's someone else, that's fine too. But some AU fans need to get of their holier than thou soap box (not pointing at anyone in particular). I'm tired of seeing Jay Jacobs preaching about the Creed and what it means to be an Auburn man..That was great in the 60's and 70's. but in today's environment it's all about winning, and winning brings in $$$$ (in ticket sales and donations) to do great things for our university.
