  1. Appreciate it AUBwins. Headed to Bali for about 10 days. Have a great holiday season yourself.
  2. I have been asking a long time for Spencer Sanders. My daughter currently goes to Oklahoma State and I have watched Sanders for the past 4 years. He is really good guys. He is extremely confident (not cocky) on the field and does not get rattled. He has good touch on the ball both long passes and short/underneath. Many of his incomplete passes were drops and interceptions were tip/deflections. And he can run for sure. Knows when to stand in the pocket until the last nano second, and when to take off and run. Seems like every time he has tucked and run, it was always at least a 10 yard pick up. Knows when to throw it away and not force it. Something he has gotten better at year after year. I would compare him to a much older mature Robbie Ashford, but with much better accuracy on his passes. Not making excuses but Sanders is a really really good 1 year gap qb. Completely off topic but my daughter arrived in Indonesia last night from Oklahoma State University. I am a happy dad this holiday season.
  3. Spencer Sanders or I would love it if Hartman or Leonard would enter the portal. Of the one's listed above.......Card, Armstrong, Altmyer in that order.
  4. Thanks for the explanation. You could be right about Gilbert. I just saw that news a little bit ago and was just wondering with Fairweather not sealing the deal, if it could mean anything. If we could get Hartman or Leonard to enter the portal and snatch one of them or Spencer Sanders, I would feel much better.
  5. Riley Leonard. He's from Fairhope, Alabama. Has he mentioned or has it been rumored that he was going to enter the portal? I would think we would have a good chance of bringing him closer to home.
  6. Is there a reason Fairweather did not sign on today? Maybe I missed the reasoning. Probably no correlation, but Arik Gilbert is about to enter the portal. BREAKING: Arik Gilbert to Enter the Transfer Portal (msn.com)
  7. Didn't he say he was staying at Tulane and not entering the portal?
  8. I dropped this in the Nest, thought I would add it here also for your thoughts. There are currently 59 transfer QB's still available after ESD. Where do we go? I think we need to add one to go along with Hank Brown (HS commit) for this year. I think that Robbie and Holden are one year away (under the tutelage of Montgomery/Freeze/Austin) from being really good for 2024. Of the 59 available, obviously we would not be interested in some of them due to talent, scheme fit, where they are from (Midwest/West Coast, etc..). So based on who is currently available, here would be my top 6 to reach out to. 1. Spencer Sanders (Oklahoma St.) 2. Luke Altmyer (Ole Miss) 3. Hudson Card (Texas) 4. Brennen Armstrong (UVA) 5. Jay Butterfield (Oregon) 6. Kedon Slovis (Pitt). I heard that Sam Hartman (Wake Forest) may possibly be considering entering the portal (if he does not enter his name in the NFL draft) after their bowl game in a couple days. He would be my #1 and Sanders my #2. I would push for both of those and feel really good with adding either. The others.........meh! Do you guys know of any others that might enter the portal?
  9. Questions based on this list: 1. Do you think Dillion Johnson comes if Cobb announces later? 2. Do you think the WR's listed have not signed with other teams because they want to come to AU but want to see what our QB answer is from the portal? 3. Of the 4 OL listed, how many do you think we get? Heard Rouse is least likely due to AU academics?? 4. We really need those listed on Defense. Do you feel optimistic here? 5. Do we really need more in the secondary? We are pretty stacked there now, correct? I would prefer we hit the LB room harder than getting more DB's and Safety's. Thoughts?
  10. Now that ESD is over, can someone update our roster numbers? With players leaving (eligibility expired, NFL, Transfer, etc) and these arrivals today, where are we at in numbers? Will we try to hit the 85 limit?
  11. Not sure, after decommitting from Auburn, he committed to Oregon. If you look at the On3 page about him, it shows they are predicting he has a better chance to choose Auburn than Oregon. Maybe he has been contacted by the new staff and he is rethinking things. He is from Florida and Auburn is a lot closer to home. Who knows. Maybe we will be surprised tomorrow. We'll take all the OL guys we can get. We were high on him once, don't think we would turn him away if he reengaged conversation and wanted to reenter the fold.
  12. I don't have to worry here in Indonesia. 85-90 degrees 365 days out of the year. 😁
  13. I mentioned this in the Nest, but will drop it here also..............I have been saying this and I hope someone is considering this option.......................go get Spencer Sanders immediately and don't look back. He is the best 1 year bridge out there.
  14. Was hoping to get 1 or 2 transfer commitments today and again tomorrow leading into ESD on Wednesday to keep the momentum going. Had a great day yesterday, and a little quiet today. Maybe tomorrow will be big.
  15. We had a great day with the results of the visitors on campus this weekend. Questions: Do we expect to get more commitments tomorrow (Monday), now that the visitors are back home and had time to talk with parents? Will Monday-Wednesday be where we see a majority of who we will get from transfer and ESD happen?
  16. Sorry, wouldn't give Robbie the keys to the car for next season. Hurt or not, doesn't account for poor decision making and poor accuracy. Get better and prove me wrong. Portal Qb is the only way to go for 1 year. Would love for Robbie to get it and be our Qb next year.......but this year, no thank you.
  17. Yeah, let's reserve judgement on those two until they have been on staff a little longer. After the A-game, we should have a better idea of their styles and personalities. I am excited, especially after the last half of the Malzahn era and all of Harsin's (whatever you want to call that) time. Finish strong with portal and recruiting and then let's get to work building this teams performance on the field.
  18. I think your right. Key word is "yet". Hopefully Robbie doesn't think he is a great Qb now. If so, that is a problem. If he understands his weeknesses, takes the time to sit behind a good Qb and watch and learn, that will be so beneficial for him next year. More importantly than that, being taught and developed under our 3 headed monster in the Qb room will be invaluable. Be humble, take advantage of the year to get better and then come out next year and have a Malik Willis year and build your draft stock.
  19. I like both, but I think I would have preferred McCall. I liked the idea of having both on campus and being able to talk/evaluate both. Looks like either there is a good chance now of knowing Leary has accepted (not upset) and McCall being informed. I would hate it if we don't have a silent commit from Leary and McCall choosing not to visit because Leary is visiting. If Leary decides he doesn't want to come and McCall has moved on, we would end up with neither. Probably just being paranoid.
  20. I would love to come out of this weekend with 4-5 transfer portal commits.
  21. I am fine with that. Means he and an awesome year = Auburn had a great turn around year also. A year of development for Ashford/Holden with Posse coming in 2024. We will be in a good place. OL is only going to get stronger after this year also.
  22. As a result, I am so grateful for the transfer portal. Otherwise, it would have taken us several years to climb out of this mess. Now, maybe only a couple.
