  1. Agree with W.E.D. we should aim for 20 in the recruiting class and around 30 in the portal for this cycle.
  2. Garrett Morris - Football - University of Pennsylvania Athletics (pennathletics.com)
  3. Correct on Leary and Sanders......1 year. McCall has 2 years remaining but if he has a good year, I could see him jumping to the league. Would really depend on how the next year went and whether the 2nd year would improve his draft stock or better prepare him for the next level. Having said that, it could be that we only need a transfer portal QB for 1 year. That is enough time to fix Robby and help Holden be better prepared as well. If we included a QB in this recruiting class, they could have a full redshirt year to learn under Freeze/Montgomery/Austin. We may really only need a 1 and done to right the ship at QB.
  4. I would be extremely happy with Leary, McCall, or Sanders. All would be a ray of sunshine in the Freeze/Montgomery offense........assuming we get some bulldozers on the LOS.
  5. Good analysis Gowebb. If they are similar in what they do and how they can get the most out of the players, I am right there with you. Go will the guy that wants to be here. Also think Kelly is a stud at recruiting and knows the recruiting areas very well. Already has good relationships with HS coaches and has a great list of recruits he has brought in over the years. DO IT!!! and let's roll.
  6. I think he needs to drop about 15 lbs and bulk up...... in other words lose about 15 lbs body fat. He would then be similar in size to Shaq at LSU. Shaq was 7'1 295 lbs. Marshall is 7'0 310 lbs.
  7. I am very familiar with Spencer Sander, as my daughter currently goes to OSU. I have watched every one of their games the past two season. Sanders is dynamic. He already has all the tools to have a great final season. He is great at running with the ball and he has a great touch on his passes. He has tried to fit the ball into space a few times which resulted in tipped balls and interceptions. I believe he had more turnovers during his first two years. As he has matured, he has made better decisions with the ball and throws it away if a play looks like it is going to result in negative yards. He is truly a dual threat. When he tucks it and runs, he can pick up a lot of yards. I would take him in a heartbeat with Freeze running the offense. If Freeze is interested in a really good QB as a 1 year fill in, this is the guy that I would get.
  8. If still in NC hunt, your chooses are: Todd Monken, Glenn Shumann, Will Muschamp, Jesse Minter, Matt Weiss, Sherrone Moore, Garrett Riley, Joe Gillespie, Jim Knowles, or Kevin Wilson. Am I missing anyone. Of that bunch......I would love Garrett Riley or Matt Weiss for OC and Will Muschamp or Jim Knowles for DC. It's probably that Danny can't decide.
  9. I think really, you only have Holden and Robbie. Calzada.....not so sure about him. He could make it back but not sure how effective he might be. As a result, I think you have to find a qb in the transfer portal that fits the style that Freeze likes and then let them fight it out in the spring.
  10. What do you guys think of this QB from Notre Dame? Any chance? Pyne took over as Notre Dame’s starting quarterback for their third game of the season, following losses to Ohio State and Marshall. He went 8-2 at the helm, and threw for 2,021 yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing nearly 65% of his passes. He went 4-1 against ranked teams, too, losing only to USC. It’s unclear where Pyne will look to transfer. The Connecticut native was a four-star Rivals.com recruit out of high school and the seventh-best quarterback in his class. He had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, LSU, Michigan, Miami and others before landing in South Bend.
  11. Good luck if you want to wade into that cesspool of a thread. I purposefully stay clear.
  12. Will be lifting Bobby and his family in my prayers. Thanks for sharing and giving us an opportunity to intercede on his behalf.
  13. Best I have seen the team play all season. Aggressive on defense. Looks like we have a good flow on offense. This is the team that we need to see every game. If so, we can cause some problems in conference play.
  14. Do we know if Freeze is leaning that way or looking outside to fill the OC and DC?
  15. How many of those would be position coaches and how many would be only staff hires? Also, I hope both the OC and DC are bigger, more established names with a history of good offenses and defenses. Offense, less important than defense with Coach Freeze likely having a heavy hand on that side of the ball. We shall see. Do you think we have the staff in place and announced before the weekend (Saturday) before the portal opens on Monday? Will that be a positive for transfers or not?
  16. Anyone have the link to the transfer portal website? Would like to look it over to see who is in it and keep an eye over the weekend to see where every player we get ranks according to others in their position group. Thanks.
  17. Is it common to hire the defensive line coach before the Defensive coordinator? Doesn't the DC usually hire his own staff? Maybe the DC has already been hired but not been made public and wants this hire made? I am not clear on how this all works, is why I am asking.
  18. Not to knock on Robbie but I need to see consistency in his passing before I get excited. Would I love to see good accuracy to go along with those wheels.......of course. Just saying that he needs to improve a great deal in his passing and his decision making if he is going to remain a quarterback. Having said that, the kid has a lot of talent and if the injury was the reason for inaccuracy, I think getting healed up and spending time with Coach HF, will tell us all we need to know of whether he has it or not. I am pulling for him. If he can put it all together, he could be dynamite and a headache for everyone on defense. Right now, he is only a threat with his legs. I do think it would be wise to test the transfer portal for one quarterback if one fits exactly what HF is looking for. Ashford, Holden, Calzada, and one from portal would be a good competition in the spring.
  19. Whoever the DC is, he needs to be handed the above right after he gets out of the barber's chair from getting his head shaved. Basic Training time.
  20. How about Brian Hartline from OSU? Do you think he is ready for an OC role? I also like Arnett from MSU for DC.
  21. I think if he wants to keep CRob, fine but use him in another capacity. We need a bulldog coaching the LB's. Just don't think he is it. If he is good at recruiting, put him in another role and allow him to continue to focus on that. I am ok with loyalty and longtime relationships, but we need the best coaches in position roles. We can't sacrifice best available for personal feelings in trying to right this ship.
