The Missouri DC just signed a new deal and talked about “unfinished business” there and that was a big reason he was staying. Two weeks later LSU waved more money at him and he bolted. This has always been a business for coaches, only now the players have the opportunity to treat it as such for themselves.

Its hard to make sense of going all in on RW while standing pat at QB. The ON3 guys have all but said no way he comes if another QB isnt brought in.

I dont think this is money. A reasonable assumption would be that he got a nice deal to return to Auburn.

ON3 says CJ Daniels, the WR from Liberty is visiting today. No way hes coming here if Thorne is the guy, hopefully this means a transfer QB is in play

The official announcements were delayed on several of Freeze’s initial hires as well. Not sure why.

That kind of thinking is why we havnt had a passing game in over a decade

Theyre just taking snaps away from QBs who may actually be good. Id be happy with a transfer, White and Brown. Young talent better than experienced mediocrity(being generous).

In their latest recruiting show, ON3 AU guys have RW at only 30-40% signing with AU unless a transfer QB is brought in. It still amazes me that after a bowl game where Thorne looks he always does that suddenly the thinking has changed for so many regarding the need for a transfer. Its pointless to spend money across the roster and go with a Dollar General QB.

Is there a backstory on this?

Something definitely changed, dukes called him prob headed to AU as soon as news broke he was in the portal. And the ON3 guys thought he was announcing for AU on signing day.

The portal is a true barometer of what a players perceived worth is. The top players have a list of suitors and the rest scramble to find a landing spot.

A lateral move to A&M. Elko is getting a good recruiting staff, add him to Trooper and McGriff. I dont think it will be the deciding factor for Williams but thats one connection he had with Bama thats gone.

AU recruited him out of high school, but I doubt his price is in Auburn’s range, especially considering the LB class coming in.

Im a Freeze guy and I hope hes right about Thorne. As a fan, Ive seen nothing that makes me think hes the answer at QB.
