  1. It starts here: Hope springs eternal. That is why it is called spring practice. Posters on this board will have a favorite QB and will use confirmation bias to cement their view of the best QB. As spring practice goes on, different posters will have a different favorite QB that they are backing and pulling for. Some posters will try to give the perception they know more about QB's than anyone else and post how their choice of QB WILL be number 1. A bunch of posters will agree. Another poster will say, "Wait!! This other QB is better and he should start". A bunch of other posters will agree. The first group will say "nuh uh" and post a bunch of reasons why the second group is wrong. "Uh Huh", says the second group and they post a bunch of reasons why the first group is wrong. This will go around and around for a bit until there are lots of posters on both sides dug in with their prediction. UNTIL... Someone alludes to "your guy sucks. He cant run, throw, and is dumb" The other retaliates with the same. A poster will feel insulted and lash out "well, you're a dummy." The other side will say, "I know you are but what am I?" Both sides start hurling insults and sarcastic backhanded compliments back and forth until both sides are so dug in that neither will ever change their mind. Some will spend the rest of the summer tearing down the other side's QB. Game One: everyone somehow pulls together. The posters pulling for the QB that is not the starter will still grumble and moan a little. We win a game!!! Everyone is either Happy or Content. (depending on which QB you were pulling for.) This continues on. UNTIL... When we lose our first game. The QB #2 backers come out of the woodwork with a vengeance. The coach needs to be fired for not starting QB 2. QB 2 crowd suddenly knows more about football and QBs than the coaching staff. Freeze needs to be fired because he doesn't know what he is doing. The freeze haters will join in. The Freeze backers will join in. until the next win. Then the QB 1 fans start back up with, "See, WE were right and YOU were wrong." QB 2 fans, "you SUCK!" QB1 fans, "YOU do!" And the cycle on message boards continues.
  2. Mine: He looks just like is momma. Oh god I hope my wife doesn't come back to this thread!
  3. Women's team?🙂 I guess I was trying for a sumo wrestler. WDE I am pretending to edit this because my wife saw it.
  4. in a way I guess. What sport and position were you going for when you picked your mate?
  5. I don't disagree. I am just spit balling. I know it will never work or happen. I was just trying to keep the conversation interesting by throwing out the only situation I can think of that wouldn't give any team a major advantage over any other because of scheduling while everyone keeps their historic SEC rivals. as far as recouping and downtime. add more schollys per team... say max 150. That would also spread the NIL money around more. WDE Woodford.
  6. I think that rule was originally implemented for safety reasons in college ball. The player is very vulnerable while trying to get back up to continue the play. You can't handcuff the defenders attacking that player. I only like proposal 1. no consecutive time outs.
  7. It was kind of tongue in cheek, BUT If course I do. You would not like more football? I would LIKE football year round if it was plausible. Everyone plays everyone in the SEC would only add 3 games and 1 or 2 more off weeks. At least 2 teams already play a 15 game TOTAL including SEC Championship game, and play off's. Get rid off all the cheap ass bowl games. Another conference game is way better than most of the low end bowl games. 15 games plus SECCG. + 8 team NCAA playoff. 20 weeks over 5 months. It would not be that difficult to implement. Will it happen? NO! But, it is the only way to keep a couple schools having a ridiculously hard schedule, other schools having ridiculously easy schedules, and no one has to give up any traditional rivals. The most anyone would play is 18 games TOTAL while most SEC team would only play 16. A bump in total scholly numbers per team and 3-4 off weeks to make up for the brutally long schedule. 15 games August 1- Nov 30. 2 teams in the SECCG, 2nd week of Dec. 3 more games for teams in an 8 team NCAA playoff. Jan 1st-jan 21 The only serious issue is other conferences not having 15 intraconference games.
  8. I know, it is a sad thing. It is the only way I see that we will not have a few teams get screwed and a few have a major advantage every year. There will eventually be a year were we play bama, UGA and then Texas rolls onto our schedule, while another team has Vandy, mizzu and then MSU rolls on their sched.
  9. When this first started up, I suggested the division be Old Guard (original SEC teams) and New kids on the Block (all the newbies since the original expansion.) there is just one too many on the old guard. I think it would make for fun smack talk between the two. Everyone gets to keep their old rivalries. 2 teams from each division playoff for the SECCG. But I still think the only way this is fair to everyone is if we expand the season to 15 games where each SEC team plays every other. (Aug 1st to Nov 30th) We don't need stinking OOC games til the NCAA playoffs. 18 week season 3 by weeks each.
  10. That was an exceptionally frustrating game for me to watch. I still want to lash out and blame something.
  11. I agree. I think some people that protest to such an extreme are, in psychological terms, projecting.
  12. What going on at toomers corner right now 3:00 Sat https://www.auburnalabama.org/web-cameras/toomers-corner/ EDIT: MARDI GRAS.

  14. They were strong in the 1920's. They were powerful in the 1940's. Until they decided to de emphasize athletics, they were more than competitive. As bad as they have been lately, they are still one of only a handful of teams that do not have a losing record to Auburn. They are one of the original founders of what we now call the SEC. I think 8 or 9 undefeated seasons. They have as much SEC history and provenance as ANY SEC team. They have the money to become a powerhouse with a few years if they decided to. They cold easily outbid us or bama or uga for recruits. They have the money to build new buildings for everything. a new stadium, the works. What they do not have is the gumption or drive to do any of these things at the moment, but a new generation is starting to grumble. interesting tidbit of vandy's early success i just ran across... "Vanderbilt football became so popular in Nashville, a new Dudley Field was constructed in 1922. It was the first football-only stadium in the South. Yost’s Michigan squad was the opponent for the inaugural game, which saw the heavy underdog Commodores fight the Wolverines to a 0-0 draw. Captain Jess Neely led the way for Vanderbilt that historic afternoon. McGugin retired from coaching in 1934 and died two years later. He is Vanderbilt’s all-time winningest football coach with an amazing record of 197-55-19"
  15. soyou have seen almost one cycle of bama I agree. it really doesn't matter from a competition standpoint. I want recruiting and fun atmospheres. If we "get" Vandy, Ms State, and Missouri, they will suddenly become dynasty's until the next schedule change anyway. Vandy is a fun trip. I'd take Nashville every other year.
  16. He must be really young and has not seen the ups and down of every program in the NCAA. WAAAAAY back in the day, Vandy was considered a national powerhouse. esp back when players could be paid like they can now. as an example, I suspect it is just a matter of time (prob a decade) before Vandy realizes they can re-emphasizes athletics at the school, dump a couple boatloads of money into NIL and becomes a powerhouse again. There is just too much money to be made for them to do otherwise.
  17. yep. teams go up and down. That is why I based my perms on how much I like to visit the opposing school's campus and area.
  18. can one of you medical people that know what you are talking about tell me how serious this is? Knowing nothing about brain bleed, this sounds ridiculously serious to me. Does anyone know if this is a Football related injury or something that happened off the field? Is it likely to cause future problems, reoccur, etc?
  19. LSU cause it is a fun place to visit fans are wild and rude, but funny and entertaining. It is fun to get to go there every other year. UTen I always have a good time in Knoxville. It would be nice to get to go there every other year UF Again a fun place to play usually good weather. A fun town. I would like to have the option to go there every other year. Bama ...Nah that town is a dump. It would be nice to only have to go there every 4-6 years Uga no thanks fans are rude, insulting and often threatening. It would be nice to only have to go there every 4-6 years. MSU dumpy town etc
  20. yeah, it is kind of open to interpretation. dakota mosely was charged/convicted with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and third-degree theft of property (but that is more ignorant than mean) Captain Crunch on the field Not sure about take you out behind the barn for a woopin' tho. I heard bigbird pushed an old lady down the up escalator one time.
  21. Meanest or toughest roughest player? Mike Kolen "cap'n crunch"
