  1. Well, YEAH, if you go ALL the way back to 2016. I thought it was assumed that we were talking about the modern era of football. Jeez, Keel, you're killin' me here... (Whoops!) Oh, you want modern era... ok. Fromm didn't do half bad as the starter for all but 1/2 of a game, and he played in and almost won the national championship last year. Kinda funny how everyone forgets about him (well, not funny to him, I"m sure). I would bet that Nix is a much better overall QB coming in.
  2. But let's be honest, none of us would cry is Bo came in and was a Freshman phenom who they couldn't help but give the start to from day 1. Still, I'm in camp Joey.
  3. Hands style is great if you have a talented group of upperclassmen to hold down the fort while you build up the younger guys to master each position they are going to play. It sucks, however, when you are trying to rebuild the line every year, as trying to learn every position will leave all but the elite guys struggling to be great at any one of them. I'm really surprised Gus chose Hand's style, as it doesn't fit his personality. While he likes jack of all trade kind of players, he's all about mastering details. Grimes fits a lot better with that as he will harp on the little things making sure that you are doing your part for the line to function as a whole.
  4. Dang... that's a spoiler if I ever saw one. Wonder when he's been asked to make it public (or at least more public than he just did). Funny how we're not even on his crystal ball list.
  5. I can see why they list him as a dual, even though he doesn't run a lot. Not only does he have some pretty decent straight line speed, but he's also got more weight on his frame than most of his QB class, which leads you to believe he may be one of the stronger overall recruits at his position. Of course, I can also see why the other sites don't list him as dual based on his film.
  6. Nix actually is #1 dual-threat and only .0136 points behind his pro-style rival who, at 6'3-180, better hope he never has to run (considering he's committed to Oklahoma, he better be stronger than his stats reflect or hitting the gym hard if he plans to replace Mayfield).
  7. I expect to have one of the best Big Cat Weekends that we've had since it's inception. I can't remember every having this many top guys already on board to handle the real recruiting during that event.
  8. So... this week we get a grad transfer O-Lineman and a 2020 Wide Receiver. Good to know that our two worst recruiters are doing work :).
  9. Thanks @McLoofus. He's #58 for those playing at home. I don't have the time to watch the whole thing right now, but I've already seen several plays where he's driving his man 5-8 yards down field. Gotta like that.
  10. Yea... so does bama, Georgia, and maybe a few other teams we're going to face. That was my point.
  11. Sounds like he could be a diamond in the rough that makes waves next year. I'd like to see the Tennessee game from last year. UMass gave up 7 sacks to Tennessee, which is a little concerning. In any case, it sounds like he's got the physicality and the drive. If there are any issues with fundamentals, we've got the guy to fix those.
  12. On the upside, now we know if we move him out to wide receiver in the Wildcat formation that he's got experience.
  13. Bo may not run much in college... after all, his arm can do the work, so why risk it more often than to keep defenses honest. That being said, here's a Stidham highlight video from high school... you can argue some traffic presence, but nothing in it says "speed". Based on Bo's video, he's at least a threat to break one if they don't keep him corralled. Stidham, not so much.
  14. com·mit·ment /kəˈmitmənt/ noun Ensuring ones place on a football team that you would like to play for until a better offer comes along, as long as you aren't too obvious that you're still looking.
  15. Either those other teams are unusually slow or he's not like Stidham. Agreed that he's not a Lamar Jackson, but he's got burst like no QB 1 we've had since Marshall, and it looks like he's got a few moves in traffic as well.
  16. Imagine Big Cat this year if Nix, Pickens, Pappoe, and Morris are all there as commits/recruiters. That could make this the year that we turn the tables on recruiting in the state and actually out recruit the machine in the west.
  17. It's hard for me to evaluate Nix since I do my evaluating watching them play in games (not to say that I do it accurately, or that is the best method). That being said, from what I've read about him, it sounds like he's further along at reading defenses, as a senior, than Sean was as a sophomore in college. The word on the street also supports your assessment of his long ball (as do a couple of videos from his 7-on-7 team). Of course, the tale of the tape will be when Nix is under center across from an SEC defense.
  18. There is no way to come close to estimating just how valuable having a high profile guy like Nix recruiting for us and to have he and Pickens both on board and burning up the camp circuit is like catching lightning in a bottle. I would be shocked if we don't have a very good class when it's all said and done.
  19. Welcome to playing QB... sometimes your receivers are your best friends and sometimes... well... they drop the ball.
  20. Oh come on Momma... don't you mean he "can't wait" to be there by May 27?
  21. You can if you use Incognito mode and just keep opening a new tab, but you didn't hear it from me.
  22. Unfortunately, this is one of those polls where it's really easy to stuff the ballet box.
  23. Yea, those numbers make a lot more sense... that's about 64% and 15 YPC.
  24. The only thing I could find was a statistic from 2008 that said the the average salary for a professional runner was between $71,000 and $78,500.
