I believe that McCall has suffered through 2 pretty significant concussions in the last 1-1/2 years. I am not looking up details but just recalling from memory a goal line flip directly head first at the end of 2022 season and another sometime in the 2023 season. Just an old man’s memory. Not checking reports or past articles, just memories I have from the original times he was under consideration by AU.

It would be awesome if vast majority of our players do in fact play in the game to make a statement. JMO

I agree. I just don’t see any reason to change major segments of our on field staff. But I don’t paid the big bucks…as has been said before.

Yep. Hope the coaching staff can get players interested/motivated. Not looking forward to a 3 game losing streak heading into off-season.

I would hazard a guess that Cam Coleman’s commitment and possible longer playing time will have a longer lasting effect in the overall program. It is a possibility, but not a guarantee.

I personally believe that Thorne deserves to be QB1 next year. As mentioned above, he came into a dire situation last year and has shown complete dedication and respect for his coaches and the system. Given AU’s current shortcomings in so many other areas, number wise and talent wise, our best bet is to do everything possible to provide a more complete supporting cast around the existing QB Room. Meaning, upgrade the Off and Def Line and Receiver Rooms. Thorne has one year of eligibility left, I believe, and will provide a perfect on ramp to help White and Brown to develop along with any other HS QB recruits. Then we can hopefully get back to a normal QB recruiting and depth rotation. JMO

Sure hoping that Thorne does not go to the portal. As you said, it would be a disaster for us. I do not know how CHF balances trying to keep Thorne and looking to the portal at the same time. He began to grasp things a lot better when left alone as a genuine QB1. Lots of time and effort put into that by both Thorne and the coaches. And quite often since then, he has made some extremely positive choices of when to run. Keeping Thorne at this juncture in our QB Room should be the priority. JMO

I agree with your sentiments. After CHF quit inserting Ashford in to games, for no real purpose except to seemingly appease him, Thorne became a more positive and comfortable QB. He is not a world beater, but given a full season in the system and better receivers next Fall, he could finally be a bridge to the future for this program. I believe that in the earlier part of the season CHF was in fear of not having a backup behind Thorne. He kept inserting Ashford to keep that line of thought alive. After he saw the difference in Thorne after genuinely giving him QB1, he knew he could not turn back. He almost did it a few plays against Bama, but it will never work with Ashford. He will always be a run first athlete, not QB1. Not only that, if we as fans know that, how sad was it to see the coaches try and full other teams as well.

I agree that after a slow start PT did play winning ball. A dropped pass possibly cost us 4 points; a muffed punt catch seems like it was a slip at exactly wrong moment; I don’t know what to call UA’s go ahead TD except probably poor decision making by Defensive Coach or player error. I am working hard to move on and look to the near future. Need additional immediate needs to be found in the portal right now. Then hope and pray CHF can close strong and keep current commits and have about 8-10 sitting on the back burner for ENSD. Just hoping, that’s all I can do as a fan.

Hoping that he and CHF still have a genuine connection. CHF surely would have taken him last year if it had been possible.

No no… Why not go full out again on McCall from Coastal Carolina. Thought I remembered Coach Freeze’s interest last season was sky high when he could not transfer due to his curriculum mismatch? Wouldn’t he now be a Graduate Transfer?
