I know you didn't ask for this in particular but... Here you go anyway. I relocated from Huntsville AL to Winston Salem NC in a similar manner at about that age, family being 8 hours by car. I moved up here and stayed in a hotel for the first week while talking to coworkers, realtors, and driving around to get a lay of the land. Then I found an apartment for 6 months and then bought a house.

"23 weeks premature" is misleading too. He was born at 23 weeks which is 17 weeks premature. Either way, I've only met a few kiddos that were younger than 24 weeks gestation. That's insane. Then to become as big as he is- also unreal. He's definitely n the definition of walking miracle without the NFL story. Crazy.
