  1. 1983 IB, Bo Jackson, the wishbone offense, great offensive line, hard nosed defense, the good old days. Love it.
  2. Thornton is also a good recruiter. In addition to the excellent results of the OLs he puts on the field, Ole Miss OL commits are saying Thornton is, "a relentess recruiter."
  3. and........after all the speculation in this thread, Freeze just said this social media rumor isn't true, lol.
  4. Exactly right. We also need to be breaking in that brand spanking new shiny football only facility. Time for WORK.
  5. He handled himself well at the presser and it's a good first step. All most of us want him to do is coach, recruit, develop players, win and keep his nose clean. He has been given an opportunity to be a real 2nd chance success story at Auburn just like Bruce Pearl. He wasn't in my top 4 but, now that the decision is made, it's worthy of noting America loves a good 2nd chance story. I 'think' we will be ok.
  6. He should stay, observe and learn all the details of how Freeze operates as a head coach. It's the perfect opportunity for Caddy. .
  7. Caddy already weeded out some of the deadwood and there are several good ones that remained. Hopefully Caddy, Zac, Reed and Ike from the current staff will all stay.
  8. @Eagle Eye 7 Hugh wasn't in the top 5 on my list but I did say this about him. Out of all the candidates mentioned he was probably the one coach who would appreciate the opportunity the most and that he would work hard because of that. When it comes to football, he definitely has the ability to do a good job. What's done is done so we'll just have to see how it shakes out on the personal side. He does have a Southern accent so there is that.
  9. Well not having one would show even less would it not ? It costs you nothing. He has done enough to deserve it so you do it and unite the fan base going into the era of the new coach.
  10. He does but no use in helping it blow up before the game. Let Caddy and the team have their day.
  11. Wait to announce it until after the IB. Caddy and the team have earned the right to have the IB be about them instead of a new coach. I would also make sure Caddy got the respect of a formal interview before a final announcement. After all that is done, announce the heck out of it.
  12. I noticed that too. The SECN didn't want to leave that game after it was over. They knew something special was going on and they wanted people to see it.
  13. That was more than just a football game tonight, that was an experience. You could feel how special it was as you watched from home and see it by the reaction of the players and those in the stadium. There was a big smile on almost everyone's face most of the night as the fans cheered the team on. You could tell the fans were having fun all night. The team got a lift from this experience and played very hard, that came through too. Caddy is something special and has done a wonderful job for Auburn. Yes, it was a special night.
  14. The question is the "last" QB to develop at Auburn. My choice would be Nick Marshall who was better year over year in passing (yds+556, TDs+6, pass%+1.34) in addition to his rushing ability. More importantly he was a better leader his Senior season. I really do miss watching Nick run the offense for Auburn.
  15. What a fantastic looking place for the AU football players to train. They were REALLY excited too. All the wall bling isn't up yet so a couple of the long hallways might look a little sterile at the moment but what a great looking facility. Auburn did this up right. WDE
  16. I was reading on another site that we are going to need 40-45 new players added to the roster before next year. That being the case, the next HC had better be able to acquire good talent. A talented QB, OL and DL are a must.
  17. I don't think it would hurt for Geriner to get a few snaps in the last 3 games. It would be good experience and he will remember it next year. It gives opponents something to think about too.
  18. AF pilot and VN vet here thanking all veterans for your service. <salute>
  19. A couple points. Deion is a 55 year old man now, not a college kid to be critiqued making tackles one way or the other. When it comes to coaching at Auburn vs supporting HBCUs, he can do both and there are several ways for him to do just that. How would he explain to a kid to pick AU over a smaller school ? It's an easier path to get noticed and make it to the NFL. Speaking of professional football, that is what major CFB is now. To that point, Deion knows professional football and the NFL. That is yet another thing about him that good players value.
  20. @AU-24 Yes we do. The names mentioned in public each have their strengths and weaknesses. Because of that, we all have our favorites depending on what we think Auburn needs the most. I think it's recruiting but others may have different priorities. But from the current pool of Kiffin, Deion, Grimes, Freeze and Lanning, I don't think we will go wrong with any of them. We both have our choices but just watch, some coach will come out of the blue and we'll all get caught off guard, LOL.
  21. I agree, we need to do something big in recruiting now.
  22. I'll have to say, Freeze did show his coaching ability in Arky game. I'm watching the MSU game and it's evident we need more talent in the roster. That has to be priority #1 imo.
  23. @AU-24 Hugh Freeze and his Liberty team just beat Arkansas. NOW what are we going to do ?
