  1. How do almost all of them have the same tent?
  2. It doesn't have to be that way. An anti-trust exemption and all the plaintiffs can go pound sand. Poof their causes of action disappear into thin air.
  3. Just stating a fact... nothing more.
  4. I agree. I just believe the starter has to be an anti-trust exemption, in order to prevent litigation over every decision. Some things won't seem fair, but so is life. If people want a semi-pro league, then by all means go start one.
  5. I mean... he did go out and find a wife for this very purpose.
  6. To be fair, I don't believe any of the people you are talking about actually make a dime off the sports they support. In fact, it is this group that overwhelmingly get called on now to fork over large amounts of money to collectives with no return on their contribution expected. The profits being made are being spent to support non revenue generating sports, including funding scholarships that otherwise would not be funded. Nobody forces anyone to play a sport. The benefits are many, with only a portion being monetary.
  7. It is more complicated than that, but Northwestern is being unbelievably misguided by its decision to "negotiate" with any group that trespasses and thereafter makes demands. Jewish students should now stage the same type protests in order to get a similar hand out. After all, this is what those universities have signaled works.
  8. I did do that, because that is where we are now. Of course, we aren't really solidly in any format. We are in the world of everyone taking as much of the pie as they can and the heck with the aftermath. I, and many I know, would be just as entertained if everyone applied Ivy league rules on admitting students and having true student athletes. The reason I wouldn't push for that is the good that college athletics has done for so many that would not have been admitted without the opportunity afforded by athletics.
  9. I don't agree with every point you make, but one thing is certain, you are intelligent and I appreciate your ability to make an educated point thru your writing. I respect that.
  10. The entire effort to transform collegiate athletics into some type of semi professional league is, in my opinion, a mistake. Applying the rules of business, in my opinion, is also a mistake. I understand why we are where we are, but blindly stumbling forward is a recipe for disaster. An exemption to U.S. anti trust laws is the first step to re-take control of an unsustainable point in time. I have no problem with student athletes being paid a fair stipend. That can be called a wage, provided that wage is equal across the board and is not used simply as a recruiting tactic. Likewise, NIL should actually be NIL. Remove it from recruiting altogether. I would have to type ten pages to fully expand on all of this. I am not rigid in how I believe it should look. I am certainly open to changing my mind, but what I am confident in is that the way things are now is not something that can work long term. We shouldn't cut our nose off to spite our face.
  11. I am really over hearing players and others complain about how much the coach makes and how much the school makes while arguing that they should get their share. That is NOT how the world works. I don't know of a profession that pays their trainees a percentage of profits. I certain know none that are the least bit concerned about being fair.
  12. Same could be said of Tommy's record without having to deal with Saban. It took a lot more to compete once Saban had it going. I actually place Gus ahead of Chizik simply because I don't believe we win that championship without Gus being OC.
  13. I'm assuming they all have very small hands... considering all the concern over the transparency of the pants... LOL
  14. I would expect a candidate to believe that they can get the job done. Their character differences aren't hard to see. Trump didn't even attend Biden's inauguration due to his inability to acknowledge defeat. He sounds like a screaming 9 year old when he whines about everyone.
  15. I believe that he should have rode off into the sunset and enjoyed retirement. He would have written the final chapter in one of the most storied political careers in U.S. history. As it is, that is not the path he chose. Instead of taking advantage of that, Republicans have insisted on forcing Americans to choose between Biden and a man that is close to the same age, with a history of self serving decision making and a track record of behaving like a child while occupying the office. Davis can write whatever he wants, it doesn't make it any more than his opinion. There is a void of leadership present in both parties. Unless a galvanizing candidate like Obama in 2008 or Clinton in 1992 rises to the occasion, the Democrats could be in the same type of disarray in 2028 as the Republicans were in this year. Someone has to be strong enough to push back on the fringe of the party without allowing the fringe to assume control.
  16. You have the right to protest, but not anywhere you want and for as long as you want. There is no right to protest on private property. While some protesters are peaceful, they are not all peaceful. The ignorant Antisemitic Attacks, including signs calling Jews murderers and much worse looks more like a KKK rally than a real protest. Schools will not stand by and passively endorse that on campus. In addition to that, the totally unrealistic demands of divestment make real debate and conversation useless.
  17. It still isn't genocide. There is a difference between Hamas and Palestinians. However, if Hamas is such a small contingent in Gaza, the population should have no problem informing as to where the remaining hostages are and offering the planners of the October 7th massacre to the IDF. Islamic extremism has to be rejected by the population of Gaza, in the same way as it must be rejected by the Afghans, Iraqis, Iranians etc etc etc. Everyone knows that Iran has been funding Hamas and supplying them with bombs, which Hamas has been launching into Israel well before this conflict began. What Hamas did on Oct 7th was abhorrent. They purposefully murdered family members one at a time in front of each other, while taking others hostage and riding them thru the streets of Gaza like trophies, while people celebrated from their open windows and along the streets. Israel does need to wrap this up and do all they can to prevent any further loss of innocent lives. However, I cannot blame them for demanding that all of Hamas leadership be either killed or taken into custody.
  18. I don't believe that he intended on them actually breaching the building. He simply wanted them to be disruptive and it got out of hand. He had Senators lined up and prepared to object to the electoral votes of Georgia, Arizona, Michigan & Nevada. He was also still demanding that Pence refuse to certify the Electoral College votes. After the mob broke thru the doors of Congress and the entire process was halted, some of the Republican elected officials got cold feet and refused to object as they had previously pledged to do. The plan finished falling apart at that point and he would have never purposefully risked that happening.
  19. Acting as though the man is a vegetable and incapable of making decisions is just a bridge too far. That isn't reality. Argue that he is too old to be running again. That is a valid argument, but going completely off the deep end just makes the discussion useless.
  20. Why would he contact anyone when they were doing exactly what he had hoped they would do? He was knee deep in a plan to unseat valid electors and replace them with slates of his choosing.
  21. Clearly? People often see what they want to see.
  22. I think the entire landscape will change in the next 15 years or so. I know a lot older Americans that are now benefiting from pension plans and the ability to assign benefits from those plans. Few companies now offer the type of retirement plans that are that generous and designed to allow an individual to retire based strictly on years of service. I know one lady that is 70. She receives her Social Security, her teacher pension from Georgia and a retirement from Alabama. In addition to that, she is receiving her late husband's pension. She is doing quite well.
  23. I probably jumped the gun with my initial comments. I was literally on campus when I made those comments and the cut was fresh. My comments were made based on what those in the building were saying at that time and nothing more.
  24. The "protest" was full of anti-Jewish hate. I couldn't count the number of signs that said things like "Jews are murderers with money" and "make October 7th every day" etc etc etc. I simply won't entertain any assertion that equates Israeli society with the kind of anti American irreconcilable value gap that exists between Western society and and the values promoted by Hamas. Too many young college aged Americans are clearly lacking a basic understanding of the cause they are willing to raise their voices in support of. That kind of protest has no place on college campuses. Would we allow the KKK to camp on campus with signs filled with racial slurs and hate? No. Half of the messaging looked exactly like that, but was directed toward Jewish students. We cannot give air to that kind of nonsense, in my opinion. This isn't about telling others what to think, but instead is about right and wrong. I am not Jewish, but I do have Jewish people in my extended family and I have even more Jewish people in my close network of friends and professional contacts. I have never heard them claim that Palestinians or anyone of another religion should be wiped from the planet. When I see good people attacked for no good reason, I become defensive on their behalf. That is what I have witnessed recently and it should not be happening in this country. We often discuss goals and aspirations. On this topic, I am more about realistic inescapable conclusions. I am stubbornly loyal to those that I know would show me the same grace.
  25. First hand, nothing. However, you are who you associate yourself with to some degree. Time will tell. They have certainly been asked by now to explain themselves. I think it is likely that all charges will be dropped against the majority of those charged.
