I'm beginning to think it is apparently not going to be Freeze.
-
I’d be pretty pleased with Lanning, let’s do that.

Autocorrect never lies.

I’d say that’s not a uniquely Auburn thing in the slightest though. If only RichRod hadn’t turned Bama down some 16 or so years ago.
-
So we could have as good a defense as Ole Miss does? Sweet.

What is most important in the next Head Coach

Gotta have a strong crootin' finger. -
But Gus wasn't at Ole Miss. I guess the point of that comment is if people are going to say "Lane can do more with Auburn's resources than he ever will at OM" but then want to compare Freeze's accomplishments at OM to Gus' here, it's not a fair fight. Not saying you are making that argument, or maybe you are, but several do it often. edit: should have kept reading onto page 2 and just gave @aubaseball a +1

And that's a big if.

He’ll be a good portal pickup for someone…

What does that really mean? I’ve seen it mentioned before but I just don’t know how a position coach could be “held back.” It’s one thing for a HC to reign in a coordinator but just can’t wrap my head around what it would involve to hold an OL coach back.

QB Question for the rest of this season
Auburn02 replied to TecmoBoJackson's topic in AU Football Forum
I vote go full on read-option with Robby but try to get Holden reps if we find ourselves with a suitable lead at some point. -
Well this is a depressing topic. 😆
-
Maybe I’m the one misunderstanding, but I read it as if Auburn offers him $70M guaranteed over 7 years and OM wants to match the total package, they would need to offer him a $70M 4-year deal ($17.5M per year). Nothing about buyouts that I’m seeing. But yes, it is my assumption that the hiring team (us) would need to pay any buyout from a new hire’s existing contract.

Who is the DC if we hire Lane, Deion, or Freeze?
Auburn02 replied to gr82b4au's topic in AU Football Forum
Whoever the boosters tell him he has to hire, obviously. 🥸 -
Well said, Alex.

Misspelled Rhett Lashlee.

How does a school reach out to a potential coach?
Auburn02 replied to AUFAN1972's topic in AU Football Forum
The job is posted on LinkedIn and Indeed, just waiting for the resumes to start rolling in any day now. -
Barfield was before my time and I've honestly never even looked at his record until now. Hard to believe that tenure could have been classified as "worst" but I guess that's a good sign about the program's history overall. Glad to see Harsin take the title.

We will have to be patient with the next coach
Auburn02 replied to TeamZero77's topic in AU Football Forum
Exactly. I'm not pretending I expect Auburn to win the West next year, but in an era of the portal and freshmen coming straight in as starters and even winning the heisman, the days of taking years upon years to "rebuild" at a major program really aren't a thing anymore. -

13 candidates to replace fired Bryan Harsin

Petrino. 🤣 -
Things that couldn't be said while he was here
Auburn02 replied to Taker's topic in AU Football Forum
If the alluded knowledge was really that juicy, we should hear something soon or already would have about him being fired for cause. Anything else that doesn't add up to that and it's likely just more of him being an all around smug jerk, of which I've seen enough to get the picture. -
Unless he needs Harsin's #, then someone give the man a hand.

So is it a done deal (again)? Sounds like it. But it sounded like it Saturday also. This one sounds more official, so I'll believe it more this time. 🤣
