Hard to tell with so many opt-outs. TT was Maryland's entire offense. He's gone. So is their best ILB and Corner. They should be Arkansas/State level of talent. On the flip side, our entire secondary is gone. So Lee/Scott and Love/Wooden starting...all for the first time. Gonna be a wild ride. New faces at DL too. We should be more talented. Hopefully Auburn 24 - Maryland 13

Would bowls (and CFB in general) be more fun if...
W.E.D replied to AUwent's topic in AU Football Forum
Bowl games still pull relatively good numbers during a season when there is nearly nothing on besides the NBA and NFL on Sunday nights. Start letting transfers play in non CFP related Bowl games. Have a cash prize for the winning team above the gif allotment. Might have more players stay and play in them. -
I don't think he can return after the Shrine Game. He can turn down the offer and still come back to Auburn

If you thought our DL and run defense was bad this year....whoa boy

Ppl like to pick their winners and loser abd treat them as such

It's definitely not one-sided wrt who brings up Hugh's past. Many seem to think it is

Probably as soon as people who claim they don't care about them stop being them up....which opens the board up to replies

I mean....of the top 15 kids in next years AL class. How many do we get. 11? That doesn't include Fegans or Jared Smith....which I think we have a shot at https://www.on3.com/db/rankings/industry-player/football/2025/?state=al

2025 4* DL Antonio Coleman Flips Back To Bama
W.E.D replied to TAYLORKEETON's topic in Rivals Recruiting
Not sure anyone expected that -
Keep talking about Zayden and Orford
-
Yeah, he seems locked up. Yeah, need DeBose to start. Then Jacob's kid too
-
It'll be interesting to see where the class lands. I'm not sure we have a shot at enough 5* kids to break into the top 5. Get Zayden Walker and I'll start to believe. It does seems like the class will.be littered with more 35-200 ranked players. Alabama is really deep again.

2024 Transfer Portal Thread (Merged Zeek's New Thread)
W.E.D replied to AU80cruiser's topic in AU Recruiting Forum
Believe we have 79 on Scholarship. So 1 left for RW means we have 5 if we don't have any attrition. I'm going to assume we have a few people leave on their own after spring. I think there are a few others we should look at pushing out -
Zion Puckett to enter the NFL Draft after the bowl game
W.E.D replied to W.E.D's topic in AU Football Forum
I disagree. It shows he still has more to prove. No coach or player gets upset when someone with a high draft stock sits out a pointless exhibition game. They all get it. It also provides an opportunity for a younger player to step in and get some reps and PT he wouldn't otherwise get. -
Best of luck to him
-
I was making an NFL joke
-
Portal might not like him
-
Yes, but then we get 1st pick in the Transfer Portal, right?
-
Conspiracy....HG isn't better than Robby. Even after essentially benching Robby, he was still #2

I don't totally disagree. I pray Thorne drops 300 4tds in 2 weeks and we have "hope" to cling to next year and can sell that to recruits. We have no proof of concept developed in '23. On the 2nd part, we're able to sell the future to a bunch of offensive kids this cycle. I think if we have another year with more sub 100yd games than > 200yd games, it will def get harder. Agree. If everyone is correct, if we buy Cam Ward, we might not be able to buy all the HS kids we want. I love Ward, I think he'd be helpful getting some WRs (I think Thorne is really hurting us here), but not sure he's worth enough to offset other talent improvements. Next year....I think we have to go hard after an established QB. Going into year 3 we'll start having a lot higher level talent at Jrs, Rs Soph, and RS Fr levels. I hope we look a touch like Ole Miss next offseason. Talent level has risen, start popping off on top end talent
-
I do think we'll see a "better" Paton Thorne.
-
I think there is some line between winning now vs winning in the future. I don't think a top QB like Ward or Leonard would make us a championship team, maybe we can push from 7 wins to 9? But then they're gone in '25. Back Up QB is probably negligible unless we have an injury, Contributor might make us more secure at 7 wins and maybe push to 8? IDK. I'm pretty pessimistic on most low ranked 3* kids who don't have any other decent offers. We'll see if we hit lotto ticket with him. I honestly don't think he or HG will ever play a meaningful game. I think we'll go PT->Portal->White I'd love to get a 2 year guy that can have a year in the system. It's pretty obvious 1st year QBs somewhat struggle and look much better in year 2 in the system.
-
Believe we'll have a manufactured QB race. Predict there will be lots of posts about Hank Brown possibly pushing Thorne, White is super talented but swimming vs college speed, Holden throws the best ball and has a bright future. Thorne will be the starter without challenge. I like the idea of a 2nd string QB to push PT....but if it came down to $250k for that or put that money towards a contributing player...how do we allocate?
-
We disagree. I listed them out for you. You want to focus solely on blame away from Thorne. I get it, it was everyone else's fault. No one is going to change your mind. If I keep posting it is me being contrary and annoying the board even though I didn't start the conversation and tried to end it multiple times. Cheers

That's why I said "getting" as in future tense. I'm sorry for echoing Mods from On3 predicting he'll be fire after the bowl game, possibly in Feb after NSD
