Not to be the Debbie Downer here (I’m usually more of a cheerleader), but let’s settle down just a little bit here. First of all, I’m assuming, being Keith, that the reference was about recruiting, not specifically on the field success. After all, CHF hasn’t won a single game as AU’s coach yet. And furthermore, the 2023 HS class and portal was impressive considering where we were when he got here, but we haven’t had any #1 classes yet (or even top 5). What we have seen is a lot of effort, planning, and organization in recruiting that we haven’t seen in a very long time, if ever. We hope, and have reason to believe, this will develop into very high ranking classes, which will turn into wins on the field. But it hasn’t happened yet. For now, let’s just be thankful that we have a coach who wants what’s best for AU, knows how to get it done, and is working his tail off to make it happen. We can wait a couple of years for the wild comparisons.

That just gave me a thought…. Could you imagine if we had Jared and Bryce, and Walker and Jabari all at the same time? Throw in Okeke or Okoro at the 3 just for fun! Man, that would be an unstoppable lineup!!!!!! Maybe we can put together a lineup like that (meaning top level guys at all 5 positions) in the future. 🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏

So, I know that 2024 will be a much better class than we’ve seen in years, but holy cow! Freeze is trying to knock it out of the park in 2025!!!!! And already working on 2027!

Jr day is this weekend, right? Do we have a list of likely visitors? I know this is the 23 hot board, not 24. But if we can talk about Gus’ stellar eye for long snappers, I figure I can slip in a question about juniors. 🤣🤣🤣

Excited to have this streak going for us!!!! Home games against TAMU, bama, and UT will be major tests to keep the streak alive! I don’t know about folks saying this team isn’t good. But it isn’t as good as last year. Jabari and Kessler were major difference makers you just don’t see very often, and we still have our Guard-play issues. They are starting to gel now, shooting better, and playing better basketball. This home stretch of SEC play will let us know how much we have improved. If we finish 12-6 in SEC play I will be very happy. Maybe we can get past that second round this year and make it to the sweet 16. That would be an impressive performance!!!!

Me too. I have no idea about the Air situation. Just seems odd. Arrogant and useless are too kind. Some folks at AU did him wrong too. But he went out of his way to burn this place down on his way out. In the pre-portal era it would’ve taken us several years to get back to competitive after what he did.

That’s surprising. He looks good to me, and we’ve got to develop that LHHS pipeline!!! But, our coaching staff knows QBs, so I will trust their analysis. And it could be that the previous coach completely burned that bridge. 🤷‍♂️

Holy Cow! The ASU defensive improvement is WILD!!!! OM offense is impressive too! I’d love to see significant improvement on both sides of the ball!!! Another quick question: What year did Liberty transition from FCS to FBS? I’m thinking this is a factor that very few have considered when analyzing CHF’s job there. edit: 2018 was their first year in FBS. So, as I suspected, having the level of success they had under CHF that soon after moving up to FBS makes that success even more impressive IMHO!

Too depressing to think about. The SECW was more vulnerable than usually this year. With better recruiting, roster management, player development, and coaching over the last 2 years, we should’ve won the SECW this year. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😥😥

I heard his throwing arm was a prosthetic. It will take some time to adjust from the amputation. By fall he should be a front runner for the Heisman!

They said basically what everyone else is saying. In the West, it’s bama and LSU 1a and 1b and then the other 5 are too close to call right now. Obviously I would put AU higher among those 5, but the basic premise seems accurate. After the Spring IF we get a good portal QB, and I’m still hoping for a very good Edge, although that seems less likely after the Spring, I can be confident in picking us #3 behind only bama and LSU.

It’s probably ok to go ahead and lock this thread until April.

If he’s plan A, I think Air Noland is a really nice plan B! I would be very happy with either! (and others have said, the Langston Hughes connection is another plus for AN!!!). I would be down right giddy with both!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to hear from Freeze the specific characteristics he looks for in a QB. Just curious 🧐
