  1. Smith had a really nice hit in one of the games I watched in Montgomery (can't remember whether it was against AUM or ASU now). So glad she has been able to successfully transition from being a slap hitter since officials have cracked down on batters being out of the batter's box. With her blazing speed she will be an asset on both offense and defense and am expecting her to be a starter next year. I also wondered about Tresvik. Dean mentioned her ability as a pitcher several times during the spring and I thought we might see her pitching some of these fall games but that didn't happen. P.S. @OlderWhiskey You probably already know this, but you can delete your emoji and then pick a different one. 2. Not sure, but I believe Ole Miss has been called for far more penalties than AU has...
  3. If I were from a middle to higher income family (i.e., my family didn't need my financial help) and my goal was to have a great college experience and make it to the pros, I would go to one of the big dogs with a good chance to win a natty. The money will come later. If my family was in dire financial straits (e.g., JT Thor) I would take the money now via NIL.
  4. Of course UT would still be making the push. But I would argue that on-field play DOES matter...it makes recruits more likely to listen if the team they are committed to looks dazed and confused.
  5. The AU offense was significantly better the two weekends they played in Auburn vs the weekend they played in Montgomery. Wonder if ASU and AUM are that much better than the opponents AU faced in Auburn or if Auburn is just significantly more comfortable at home (or if I jinxed them in Montgomery). Thanks so much for the update @OlderWhiskey. Interesting (worrisome?) that the team was so dominant in the home games but struggled in the games in Montgomery. I don't know if Auburn Montgomery (AUM) and Alabama State (ASU) were just that much better than the teams they played in Auburn or if there was something else going on. Looking forward to spring.
  6. Games like AU vs GA help top recruits believe Auburn is just a few key players away from contending for championships. Unless they're really committed to the school, games like AU vs LSU, IMHO, make top recruits look for better opportunities to compete for championships. While NIL may be one consideration, I don't think it's the biggest consideration. Top players want to have a positive experience, win, and make it to the pros. Auburn doesn't have to win out this year to retain commitments, but they can't look clueless and defeated. Why would anybody sign up for that?
  7. Quarterbacks are generally instructed not to risk injury. Particularly relevant when the game is completely out of reach.
  8. Thanks for posting - It's hard to keep up with all the athletic events. After #2 Auburn defeated #9 UC Davis 14-4, and #7 Baylor 16-3, they just managed to eke out a win over #10 UT Martin 11-9. Glad they pulled out the win and hope they return to dominating performances in the future - this one was too close for comfort. 9. Yes, Auburn has a top-notch cyber security program! Auburn University Cyber Security
  10. I went to Montgomery hoping to see Auburn's explosive offense but was sorely disappointed. We were lucky to beat ASU. Their starting pitcher was not very effective and 2 of Auburn's 4 runs were due to her walking batters with the bases loaded. The new pitcher held Auburn in check. Some sloppy errors on defense, too. ASU was full of energy and they had a raucous crowd cheering them on. It was a fun environment (although seating was limited and not very comfortable). P.S. Lisenby was there and dressed out. At the beginning of each defensive inning she went out and caught for the pitcher's warmup pitches before she was replaced by Elkins/Wohlers. IIRC, she also batted in one of the games and had a nice hit. There's a lot of work to do before spring...
  11. Thank you for posting this - it's the first article I've seen that gives any in-depth explanation of what Suni has been dealing with. Heartbreaking to see anyone deal with serious health issues, especially someone so young. Sounds like she's getting the best medical care possible if the Mayo Clinic is involved. But still concerning that (per my understanding from the article) there is not a decisive diagnosis and, so far, medicines are not fully controlling her symptoms. Sending her best wishes for healing and for success in the gym and in life.
  12. Auburn romped over Baylor 16-3. I like it!!! Thanks for the updates!
  13. Thanks, @ellitor. Just wondering...he de-committed when CWF left and credited CWF as a significant factor in his initial commitment to Auburn. Had he been promised the PG position when he committed and while CWF was still at Auburn?
  14. Thanks so much for posting @OlderWhiskey - I was going to search for softball results today. Were you able to attend the games and, if so, were there many fans in attendance? Also, any insight into the players who have left the program? Really (pleasantly) surprised at the result vs Troy as they had a very good pitcher last year. She may have graduated or just not played. Rolfe was a star in high school but pretty shaky in her few appearances on the mound last year. Sounds like she may be ready for prime time this year (and we will need her). Excited to see what this team can do next spring.
  15. Thank you for posting, ScotsAU. He sounds like a really outstanding, kind, talented, and generous young man; the type of person we need more of in this world. It's always shocking to lose someone so young. Praying for peace and comfort for all who loved him,
  16. Wonder if they went to 'the game' and/or got to meet Suni?
  17. It's supposed to be shown again Thursday, Sep 28, at 8:00 pm, on PBS.
  18. There were at least 2 previous topics re this documentary on aufamily.com before it aired so hopefully most people were able to watch it.
  19. Wow...would love to know what happened. She was just announced as part of the freshman class on Aug 10...about 6 weeks ago! Gianna Poletti completes softball’s 2023 class - Auburn University Athletics (auburntigers.com)
  20. Hate that we lost him. IIRC, he grew up an Auburn fan but de-committed when Coach Flanigan left. Wonder why Pearl wasn't able to keep him?
  21. Thanks @Jad0003 - wish we didn't have to wait 2 years to get them on campus! Wilson sounds like a beast - hope her game translates to SEC-level competition. Morici's, too.
  22. Wow...heartbreaking loss to #3 Florida tonight in 5 sets. Lost the 5th set 17-15.
  23. Does anyone know the backstory of his trip for the Iron Bowl? How long is he staying, how did he get a ticket, is he meeting up with any AU alumni/fans who will be hosting him and showing him around, is the AU Athletic Department engaged with him, etc? Really love this story!
