jared52 4,354
Wow, that's kinda scary. At least it wasn't like 1980, yikes!
AURaptor 1,123
Visited the lava fields out there a few yrs ago. The little 'hiccup' that Mt St Helens had on Friday was interesting. Often after a larger erruption ( like 1980 ), it's centuries , not a couple of decades, before another major event. That the lava dome inside the crater has grown is interesting indeed. I doubt we'll see any repeat of 1980 in our life time.
big dude 0
I saw a news report the other day that was talking about the fact that while predicting a volcanic eruption is alomost impossible, they've learned a lot about Mount St. Helens' past. They said there was an eruption in 1480 that was even bigger than the one in 1980. They said the mountain used to be much bigger before the 1480 eruption.
