ANAHEIM – The Yankees are making some changes following Thursday’s disappointing, 18-inning loss to the Athletics.

The team called up right-hander Chris Bootcheck and outfielder Thomas Neal from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday to shake things up. Struggling utility man David Adams could be sent down and reliever Adam Warren will also likely head to the minors as well after pitching six innings in the 3-2 loss to the A’s.

Bootcheck, 34, has been starting at Scranton, but will come to the Yankees as a reliever. He’s 5-2 with a 3.32 ERA down there this season. Neal, who is batting .339 with two home runs and 24 RBIs, gives the Yankees a much-needed right-handed bat.

It’s unclear whether either one of them will be in uniform Friday night against the Angels. Scranton played Thursday night in Pennsylvania.

I see that Clete Thomas is back up with the Twins....went 4 for 4 the other day....playing Center. A determined guy...has been up and down a number of times but keeps keeping-on. Good for him. Nice to see the AU guys hanging in.
