Stop preseason polls

Ohter than the top 2 the polls were awful.

Auburn jumped about 15 spots.

LSU droped about 8-10 spots

Utah jumped about 20 spots

Missouri, Kansas State, and Nebraska didn't even stay in the Top 25

Cal jumped many spots

UTEP was nowhere near the top 25

How about a 5 team playoff

The top spot gets a bye while the other 4 duke it out

They can still have bowls though.

Let the bowls kind of be like college basketball's NIT

They can still have all the bowls in several different playoff scenario's.

5 wouldn't work. It would be unfair to have the #1 team sit idle for three weeks while the other guys get a roll going. Plus with two or three undefeated teams there would be the same debate about who gets the #1 seed.

I think there is a very slim chance we could get the AP vote if Oklahoma were to beat USC.

Cal losing to Texas Tech knocks out what everyone has listed as USC's signature win. Ok State got blown out, then if Texas were to lose to Michigan and Tenn beat Texas aTm that could hurt them. Course we need LSU, Tenn and Georgia to win and for us to win, that would leave the finished season with 3 SEC teams ranked in the top 10.

That combination might be enough to push Auburn in the final AP poll when USC's votes are redistributed if they lose to OU.
